I think he knows how to make a lunch â he just doesnât like doing it. Get used to getting up a few minutes earlier, John. Itâs not that big a deal.
Since Ellie does not have to leave till 8:30, she has no excuse not to pack Johnâs lunch..If not, shouldnât this be part of Jeanâs job description, to have to pack and bring in her bossâs lunch?
8:30 are you kidding me, Iâve been at work for an hour and a half, my wife for two and a half hours. She hasnât made my lunch in the last 35 years.
A man who pulls teeth and does root canals for a living complaining because his little wifey was too busy to make his lunch? What a big baby. Grow a pair John and make your own lunch! Or eat out, dentists can afford it.
I am so glad my husband is nothing like John. Donât know how or why Elly puts up with himâŠ.Jean is the one to put him in his place â the pretend helpless male and a male chauvinist. He knows how to make sandwiches and doesnât need Elly to make them for him â he just liked the idea of having a wife doing things for him and doesnât like the changes. You canât have it both ways â Elly bringing money home AND continue doing things for you as before. You gotta pick one and I bet you like the money better.
Thanks for your commentary, Lynn. I have long been reporting that most modern comic strips are done for adults, not children. No one commented on who made the childrenâs lunches. Being a man myself I recognize that most men are experts in the whining, I need sympathy, department. Keep it up Lynn, youâre right on.
I donât think is really about man vs woman, more so about what happens when you take people for granted. It is good to shake things up occasionally, makes people think about how the other people in their lives, be that a husband, wife, friend etc., do things that make their lives easier. We often donât realize how much other people do for us until, for some reason, they arenât doing it anymore.
He isnât getting sympathy from her. Making his own lunch isnât a âhardshipâ in her eyes.
Â
John having to make his own lunch for a change isnât exactly a âhardshipâ in MY eyes either!!!!! How hard can it be? Two pieces of bread with a slice of meat and cheese slapped in-between â and maybe even some mayo, mustard or ketchup if he likes that kind of thing on his sandwiches. Itâs not exactly rocket science!
She might not have much sympathy, but since she works for him, she might just end up running for lunch every day. There is a word for secretaries that refuse to make the office coffee, it is âunemployedâ.
I know plenty of men from that time period who would not have had a clue how to make their own lunch â some of my best friendsâ hubbies (I was much more fortunate).
Obviously, John never knew how good he had it till he lost it. So far, itâs only âthe lunchâ he lost. Heâll get more âbrownie pointsâ if his vocabulary becomes filled with âhoney, would you like me toâŠ.???? I I suspect this situation is quite common in households in which the wife goes back to work.
Kudos to all those fellows who currently make their own work lunches in order to make life easier for their spouse! Itâs really the little chores that make the difference as to how a woman feels when she gets homeâŠ..papers off the floor and kitchen counters cleaned off and garbage taken out. A spouse who can relax right after she gets home makes a happier wife and a happier husband, needless to say.
Wow really, making your own lunch is soo difficult?? Let me guess what he hadâŠPB&J. I had a b/f who would come over to my house just so I could make him lunch, then heâd complain about itâŠ

Hey John! Bread, slice of meat, slice of cheese, mustard, then bread again. Put the whole thing in a little [plastic bag. Lunch by the numbers.

A grown man should know how to make a sandwich and grab an apple. Besides, Iâm sure there are restaurants around. Youâre just whining.

Jean keeps John real. I wish sheâd work a little harder at itâŠ.that, or that it would sink in more on Johnâs end.

An thoughtful spouse will warn the other spouse in advance of pending changes to established routines; itâs worked for 42 years.

Soooo. My wife never made my lunch. Iâve always had to do it. He should look at it this way, at least he can make sure he has what he wants.
