I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an adult doing a critique of their kids’ snowmen. But…I guess in Calvin’s case…

All baby dolls in Europe are anatomically correct. I remember the huge furore in the 70s in the US when they began to import “boy baby” dolls. Here, people know that all little kids know the difference between little boys and little girls, and it’s not about the colour of your booties.

our society is weird. it glorifies violence, but gets squeamish regarding sexuality.

There’s a story about missionaries in Africa giving the children baby dolls. Shortly thereafter the children would run from the missionaries. Seems that they had concluded that becoming Christian meant losing one’s genitals since none of the dolls had any.

HAHAHAahahaaaaaa! That is just SO funny. Simple, expected… But still SO funny!

This is one of the best Calvin and Hobbes. No doubt about it.

Watterson’s “snow people” strips are some of his best.

The state of New Jersey one time put out a visitor’s bureau pamplet with a picture of a snowman on the front cover. Unbeknowst to the photographer and the editors, the snowman was similar to Calvin’s.

Uh…although not treated specifically in the comic strip, I doubt that Mom would have tolerated the zombie snowmen any better…the “gag” just didn’t get that far with the zombies.

Funny how everyone commenting above assumes Mom’s objection in this strip is about cucumbers and carrots…couldn’t it have been about masculine shoulders and pecs? Susie’s take on the snowwoman was to add a (modest) bust and hairdo…. But, of course, I jest ! Calvin would ALWAYS escalate the matter! That is, assuming as a six- or seven-year-old, Calvin knows enough about human anatomy…. We make lots of adult assumptions about this character as it is….

Back in classical times, herms were boundary stones, and in honor of Hermes, god of boundaries, they had a head and a phallus…

My brothers and I made anatomically correct snowman and woman when we were young. My mom was not happy.

This one is great and I’ve never seen it before. Censors at work? I love the stance of the snowman — “Yoo-Hoo!”

It’s not ALL “religious-based.” “Religious” people are not the only ones who believe in modesty. And clothing has usually had the dual purpose of environmental comfort and protection.

Why are all updates late today?

Here it is almost 2 am MST on Friday morning and no Calvin. What gives??

the whole site appears to be dead—no new comics at all as far as i could find.

I have sent a message to GoComics about the lack of updates on the website. None of the strips I look at have updated. Now four and a quarter hours past their update time.

Check Snow woman’s purse. You might find Snowman’s balls there.
