If Delta tries to actually help people through politics or law, she’s likely to find herself sitting alone at the politics or law lunch table.

luann is the new queen of musical comedy.

So Luann graduates after a drama major. Then she can be a waitress.

Can some one tell me how on earth Delta could help anyone by going into politics?

Being ideal and optimistic will indeed, serve Delta well…right up until, as Golden Roya says, she gets paid megabucks to ditch her ideals. She’ll be wealthy, but somewhat bitter and disillusioned thereafter.

I think Luann has been hanging around Tiff too much. She’s seeming more like her each day this week….

Many years ago a friend of mine ran for a local city office…after losing my friend told me "If you are not corrupt when you entered the ring you would be after seeing how the “system” worked. No one helped you unless you caved to their demands first", so I can not help but laugh at poor Delta and her idealist dream. Of course this was Chicago, ’nuff said.

Honestly, I get rather tired of Bernice and Delta’s disdain for Luann. Maybe they are more mature and driven, but that doesn’t make them superior beings. Who needs friends who are constantly looking down on you?

I once took a “vocational aptitude” test, where they matched your answers to a series of questions against people from various professions. Was told that I matched up best with a shepherd.

“Horse trainer, I would die to do that!”….. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s much of a demand for dead horse trainers, Luann

I have a grandson that is in Luanns place in life but the difference is he graduated last May and still can’t decide what he wants to do. So glad I am past that point in my life. My suggestion is Air Force or Navy, your gonna live through the next 4 years any way, might as well spend it learning to be independent.

What happened to all the other plots?? Is he on vacation??

I think drama and singing would be the best choice for her. So she can go to Broadway!

How can you people be so mean to Luann? Most people her age do not have a whole career planed out. Seriousl how can you know for sure what you want to do for the rest of your life at that age? I know I didn’t. Now I am at uni focusing on my career but even now I wonder if I made a choice and being a horse trainer sounds like a better option :)

Poor Delta – lofty wonderful ambitions, but she’ll find that politics only chooses the well-favored at the expense of the less favored – in every single case. It’s the nature of force. Violence or the threat of it drives the state and politics.

Unless you’ve ALREADY been riding horses since you were six Luann…ain’t gonna happen

Most politicians Are lawyers. No one else gets represented.

I’m actually happy to look at today’s strip as a pure comic joke contrasting the extremes of how different kids approach considering their future.

And yes, I do know idealistic lawyers, who do a lot of pro bono work. I can’t say I’ve met a lot of people in other professions who give away their work for free on a regular basis.

I think this is why Luann hates Tiffany; they’re too much alike, but Luann won’t acknowledge it. They’re both attention-whores. Tiffany’s cool and calm about it, but she makes it all about her. Luann’s loud and melodramatic, and makes it all about her.

Actually the conservative way seems to be to hijack the ‘funny’ comics with angry, right-wing, bullet points, and the heck with whether they’re ruining the strip for anyone else!

I’ve thought the same thing, and I have a theory – Luann is the character that Evans wants us to identify with so we sort of see the world through her eyes. She is insecure and indecisive, and her friends seem mature and driven to her by comparison, so we can relate to Luann in our own insecurity. We see Bernice and Delta as Luann imagines them.

Of course in reality they’re lesbians.^^You had me agreeing with you….until that last line

Luann is almost as bad as Tiffany when it comes to education .

“Horse Trainer”….. yeah that’s a legitimate career. I think “Reality TV Star” is a little more attainable.
