Enjoyed not only todayâs strip but all your light-hearted comments. Brewsterâs song is so catchy I think Iâll keep my (artificial pink) tree up until February 2. Hereâs hoping the groundhog doesnât see any shadows so spring comes soon! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The neolithic inhabitants of Europe had four extra holidays, equally spaced between the two solstices and the two equinoxes. (Since they measured time by using megalithic rings of standing-stones, it added some nice balance, and it filled some empty space, and it wasnât that much trouble, to add four more stones). The âholidayâ halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox was called Imbolc, marking the first stirrings of Spring. Our dim memory of the fact that there should be some holiday around the first of February led us to create Groundhogâs.So leave the tree up, Brewster. And light some bonfires.

If Punxsutawney Phil can see the treeâs shadow, it can stay up until spring.

We keep ours up through all 12 days of Christmas. Unless, of course, we canât be bothered, then it stays until there are no needles.

People, people, Christmas is not over yet, it has just begun. The 12 days of Christmas do not stop on December 25th, they start on December 25th.

We Scandinavians keep it going till Lille Jul on January 13.

Not the tree, but at least one year I kept the wreath up through Valentineâs Day, having added lace and red pipe cleaner hearts.

Far too soon to take down the tree,at the very least it should stay up untill Epiphany

Too early. Tree must stay up until at least Epiphany. We are only on the 3rd day of Xmas. I may still add more ornaments to my tree.
