Dad:...And "yes" to the pressing issues of real life right in front of us! Mom: Father's going "cold turkey", I'm going "warm pumpkin pie".

I just knew there was going to be a “cold turkey” joke in there, somewhere.

And now is the second best part of Thanksgiving… eating the leftovers. (At least for me. We only cooked a turkey breast so we won’t have turkey leftovers for weeks.)
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Friday! Have a great day, all!

Lots of people are skipping the shopping today, and going right into the Christmas decorating mode. DH and I drove around a few neighborhoods to view the Christmas lights that are already on display. (Well…I drove…he hates Christmas) I’m heading for my favorite commercial greenhouse to buy my Christmas plants. It’s time to order the fresh Holly branches I am partial to. eBay has the best, fresh cut Holly from the best growing states. Oregon, Virginia, Washington.

People in OKC are putting lights on all the piles of tree debris from the ice storm; since the city says the first pass will take 2 and 1/2 months, it is a fair certainty that they will last until January or so. Some of the photos posted on ND are really pretty!

Christmas decorating started a little early for us this year – helps to lift the spirits knocked down by the pandemic. Even went on the annual tree hunt on Tuesday – ie drove to the first place in town that is selling live trees. Managed to pick put a nice balsam this year. Last year we delayed too long and had to get a rather crooked Fraser fir – the last one left in town. It will come into the house next weekend and be decorated over the next week (I have to do it myself and I take lots of breaks). Turned on the new outside lights two weeks early and now many of the other homes on the street are festively lit.
Not much hope right now that my older daughter who was planning on visiting this Christmas will make it. Disappointing but would rather have a Christmas with just my wife and I than not have any more Christmases.
I hope everyone had a great Friday and is looking forward to a fun, safe weekend.

Wow—they actually cut themselves from cooking. I’m impressed!

We had a small turkey, will eat leftovers for a couple of days, then freeze anything left…and there won’t be much.
Not going shopping for anything except groceries because nobody in our area is even wearing masks and Michigan had over 17,000 new covid cases over the holiday.
Still working on getting my foot to walk up to 2 miles/day…hurts but doing it anyway. At least we can go to a nearby metro-park.
