Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for December 07, 2020
Transcript:
Cathy: I have to get this finished for Marcia by Thursday! Irving: Thursday's only December 10. Cathy: December 10 is the deadline for cheating on "no gift pacts". Irving: What?? Cathy: If you're going to cheat and give a gift to someone you promised to not give a gift to, it won't count as cheating because it's too early to count as a gift. Irving: If you're cheating, what difference does a deadline make?? Cathy: Honestly, honey, how can you have such little regard for the rules??

Exchanging gifts like that in a group situation, can be fun, if everyone follows the one rule. Do this…one gift each, for everyone in the group, limited to one DOLLAR STORE purchase per person. If you have something special for a particular friend there, give it to them someplace other than the workplace.

My gift rule is simple. You say no gift, you get no gift. Otherwise, you get a card with money. Buy what you want.

Nope, no cheating. If there is a gift exchange that you’re going to participate in, it can be fun. There are usually rules, like money limit or maybe a theme, so follow them. Otherwise, if people don’t want to exchange, honor that desire. If you really want to give something, then donate to a charity in their honor.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Monday! Have a great day, all!

I don’t know many seniors who need more stuff – and when needed, buy it themselves! I like Summerdog’s and Lu’s suggestions.

I never like group exchanges of gifts as I am never able to figure out a suitable gift. I cannot even pick out gifts for my own family. Fortunately my wife and daughters are quite willing to give suggestions. Fortunately my wife is really good at picking out gifts for everyone so she is in charge of gift giving. I am glad the three women in my life like charm bracelets so I can get them Disney charms without any guidance – although my wife prefers to pick out her own.The only gift I really want is more time with my daughters and my son-in-law and my possible future son-in-law.
Have a great Monday!

Agree with karlykru…don’t need any more gifts…I’m happy to give them, but I don’t need any more stuff.
