Transcript:
Mom: STEP AWAY FROM THE FREEZER, SWEETIE! THERE'S NOTHING IN THERE THAT WILL HELP YOU BALANCE YOUR CHECKBOOK! Dad: Our daughter's on the other side of town, dear. Mom: I see exactly what she's doing! I feel like I can reach in and touch her! Don't try to do it all at once, sweetie! Start with the easy tasks first! Just put one foot in front of the other! Dad: Mother's in-brain video game: "virtual meddling". Mom: Don't put your foot THAT way! You'll head back into the kitchen!

Cathy’s Mom desperately needs a hobby.

My mother’s “mind-reading” act was incredibly annoying and she was always wrong. It told me more about her upbringing.

Cathy should listen to the advice in the first panel as it is so true.
Another extra hot day – over 90F actual and over 100F with the humidity. Definitely not August weather for us – but I am NOT complaining. Sure better then near freezing temps we sometimes get at this time of year. The near full moon was only slightly pink last night. The night before it was very red all night. Guess the wind changed and we are not getting as much smoke from the fires out west.
Have a fun, safe Saturday today.

A “Cathy” without “Cathy” strip? I always loved her parents and wish I had them as my own.

You never know, Cathy’s dad—your wife might be assessing the food supply, therefore budgeting how much to spend on future grocery trips! Or something like that.
The absurd connection between the freezer and the checkbook here made me laugh, too.
