Calvin understands this from his own experience. Here is one from Calvin’s early days:Click here: Calvin and Hobbes (November 25, 1986)

Calvin definitely didn’t fall for that one…
Yaaay Calvin
With a cat everything is intentional and innocent.
Some real cool shots of Hobbes treating this near awkward moment calmly.
Hobbes learned this from his mommy .
Very strange panels structure. Mondrian inspiration?
And then the casual stroll away with tail held high!
Happy Mother day’s
Not often you see Hobbes come the cropper. ;-)
First I thought, this somersault will end in a motherdaysheart!!
Nice trip. It reminds me of the strip that got me started on Calvin and Hobbes.
Smooth, Hobbes.
Hobbes’ got style!
For once, Calvin wasn’t taken completely by surprise. Interesting.
Hobbes improvised his somersault. I admire that.
Cats always act like they meant to to that!
U recovered nicely, Hobbes! …….. {well done}
I love HOBBES <3
A tiger doesn’t have feathers, but I’ve heard of lyin’ down.
What are you talking about? Pennies and dimes are still around?
Love it
It all depends on your definition of" innocent", Calvin!
Depends on your definition of “intentional” as well!!
…what? Hobbes MISSED?
Awwww… Better luck next time, Hobbes.
There will be LOTS and LOTS of next times I’m sure!
I love his shadow in the 3rd panel.

A cat would NEVER be seen doing something undignified. And if he were, any witnesses woud suffer “unfortunate accidents!”
Haha, this strip is so funny!!
The whole comic is sugar!
Same thing at first football practice …
It’s a good thing that Calvin can stop on a dime.
My cat got too close to the edge of the bed this morning and rolled off, mid-grooming. She did the same thing as Hobbes. Licked herself, scratched herself, and walked away with the “I meant to do that” look.
