Rick: Hey... what're you still doing up? Joanie: Couldn't sleep... worried. Rick: About what? Joanie: Whether I can still cut it at work. I should be there now. Rick: At two in the morning? Joanie: It's the Hill, Rick-- that's the job. Man: She's at home? Woman: Yup. Guess she's special.

Senate Staffers really are over-achievers. GT isnât far off the mark. Theyâre sort of like interns in a law firm.

There needs to be more experienced ârealâ people in the work force. At the top. Someone has to tell these scallywags that you donât have to burn the proverbial at both ends to survive or be seen to be ambitious.

Let them get over it. You have more to offer than being there every hour. After all, whatâd they hire you for?

If all these young staffers are working so hard how come nothing gets done on the Hill? See last 4 years total accomplishments.

The older and more experienced you get, the more you know how to utilize your work time properly and maximize your production. When I was young, I thought that working round the clock was what I was expected to do. As I matured and took on responsibilities of home and family, my priorities changed.By the time I retired ( sort of ) I knew how to accomplish more in four hours than these kids could get done in sixteen⊠.

They work that late so that the public canât find out in time what they have done to the Country.

So, itâs finally come to this! The biggest regret at death is, âI worked too hard.â

Much does get done on the hill and other legislature bodies, the problem is that it is usually payback or a pet project that could never get far enough to become a bill(thank God). Calif has the most restrictive gun laws of any state and they still have many anti gun projects going. Isnât there a point when the feds finally say enough is enough and make the laws themselves?

Actually, youâre making sense here. If you equate sense with âworkâ or labor. Well, I can get a mule to that.
Wanna try âHorse Senseâ?

SSI was never meant to be a full pension and is usually not enough to live on alone. But with most companies having switched from pensions to 401Ks that the employee is primarily responsible for funding, plenty of people Joanieâs age canât afford to retire. And those younger have to delay retirement longer and longer.

This is a bit of a repeat theme. Seem to remember GT doing this sometime during the Clinton admin.

I truly think Warren would want her staff to have a life, that nothing is so important the whole office is open 24/7.

Just wait until you retire â then you get to work twice as many hours for no pay!

I donât do overtime unless I get paid or I get compenstory time. At least at time & a half. At 20, I didnât know better. But I learned. âŠâŠ I donât do overtime without pay. I might work through the afternoon coffee break, but then â the morning coffee break is twice as long as it should be. ;)

So true!! Too bad the next generation has to learn all over again what their great grandparents fought (and sometimes died) for.

No wonder the quality of work inside the Beltway isnât up to commercial sector standards. With the exception of the financial industry.
