Worst earworms are songs I don’t like to begin with…. Stuff I would never listen to on purpose but you walk into the supermarket and get hit with it….

Sappy Olivia Newton-John songs….and OMG I hate to even think of it, but “Seasons in the Sun” has to be one of the worst.

    and gee thanks, simpsonfan.

Now I’ll hear “It’s a Small World After All…” running through my brain for three days. That’s torture.

My son is a musician…he deals with ear worms by humming the New World Symphony. Doesn’t work for me.

The absolute worst is “See the tree, how big it’s grown”. Sappy song, dreadful tune, a real downer.

Fighting soldiers from the sky Fearless men who jump and die Men who mean just what they say The brave men of the Green Beret .Silver wings upon their chest These are men, America’s best One hundred men will test today But only three win the Green Beret .Trained to live off nature’s land Trained in combat, hand-to-hand Men who fight by night and day Courage peak from the Green Berets .Silver wings upon their chest These are men, America’s best One hundred men will test today But only three win the Green Beret .Back at home a young wife waits Her Green Beret has met his fate He has died for those oppressed Leaving her his last request .Put silver wings on my son’s chest Make him one of America’s best He’ll be a man they’ll test one day Have him win the Green Beret.

,,,actually, the more you focus on it, the harder it is to get rid of it… just get on with your day, and you won’t even notice it leave…now, if you want to talk irritating, try to get your mind to stop racing when you are trying to sleep…

I don’t remember now which strip it was, but some family strip had the Daddy telling the Mommie that he had a tune stuck in his head, then the Mommie telling him to just sing another song. The last panel had Daddy’s co-workers staring at him as he sits at his desk singing “Itsy-Bitsy Spider”. (I vaguely recall it was a “Family Circus”, but I can’t see how it would have been crammed into that damned circle.)

Bruno. .. it’s not that I like one better than the other. .... but fortunately if I haven’t learned the words well enough or don’t know enough of the tune. … on purpose or by osmosis….. it can’t become an earworm.

Going in a slightly different direction, who thinks Trout did that Green Beret thing on purpose? Could anyone be so cruel? Only to one’s best friend, I suppose. She doesn’t seem sorry.

Come to think of it, Saddler didn’t glorify war, only their warriors.
