Comic strip readers know the artists have a backlog of strips for the syndicates just in case. Jim Davis usually has a years’ worth.
And Andre got it the first time. Kyle never was able to find that happy medium with Rita. Today’s Rita is more like a ditzy teenage girl trying on different identities and seeing which one sticks.
You could have done it the easy way and do what Bloom County does. Just say that Roy ate the strip and Rita and Dana are trying to figure out how to stop him. It works for Bloom County. It should work for here.
Rita’s image in panel #6 reminds me of Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David on NCIS. Must be the cleavage and the hairstyle.…Kyle’s Rita reminds me of someone I used to work with. Always crabby and always scowling. How anyone can go through life like that day in and day out is beyond me. It’s a choice. Yes, it is.
The vacation is over! We have to send in the strips a couple of weeks ahead, so I did these to cover that week, knowing I’d be back by the time they ran. We went to Stone Mountain Georgia.
Speaking of Roy, I seem to remember on the old Comics.com website that there were character descriptions, and I thought it said at one time that Roy rode a Harley. Does he still, or did Kathy make him give it up? (I notice he still has the leather vest!)
I like #2 & #7. Also liked the Rita from her younger days with the big hair (from a strip about a year or so ago). #1 looks like a guy, and #4 looks like a character from either Dudley Doright or Natasha of “Boris & Natasha.” Roy looks just like someone I used to work with, we called him “Uncle Fester.” Anyways, I enjoy the strip. Pretty accurate assessment of most any workplace.
I read everyday but rarely comment. This will be fun! And I said it before, and I know either Thomas or John replied back and explained where the real life scenery came from, but I think it’s really neat when they are incorporated into the strip.
I actually like some of Scott’s earlier versions of Rita. to me, the more rounded look works for her. The recent one is what makes me think she looks WAY too much like the way he draws Maria in Maria’s Day. His earlier Rita looks more unique.

Rita has probably changed the most through the years, nice to see the creative process behind her evolution.

This has become one of my favorite comics. I am a recent addition, so reading about the history is interesting. Thanks!

Yeah Roys been on longer than Carolina. He is a staple. And he’s more a geek than a nerd. Okay he’s a nerd.

I always say, the more cleavage the better. So I liked the third Rita from the last.

I enjoy all the strips even tho’ I’ve never been into some of the stuff they get into of SciFi (always more of a Fantasy fan).
