Melba toast has been around for over 100 years.
It was invented at the Hotel Savoy in LONDON (which is in England, I believe) by Auguste Escoffier, who was French, in honor of Dame Nellie Melba, who was Australian.
Hardly some newfangled American thing.

The only place I’ve ever seen Melba Toast is in a bread basket along with crackers and bread sticks in my favorite restaurant.
