Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for May 01, 2013
Transcript:
Roland: Shep, I'm now talking to Mimi Van Ork, P.R. director for the George W. Bush Institute... a faith-based belief tank, where every day a hot slurry of gut feelings is carefully processed... then poured into cooling trays and set out to harden into rigid ideology Only then is it cut into bricks and shipped to... Mimi: Do I get to talk, too?

Oh, please donât!

I cannot abide strident commentators,in print or on air ! I also detest hosts who are so enamored of their own voice or so rapt in opinion, that they wont allow their guest to speak.. Chris Matthews is one of those !Where has the art of listening gone ?
Varnes almost 12 years ago
I really like the Maple Nut slurry/ideologyâŠ.Although most of it looks like chocolate, and/or âStraw Fudgeâ from Mackinac IslandâŠ.
water_moon almost 12 years ago
But Mathews made for such good SNL parodies. Heâs such a joke!
Kali39 almost 12 years ago
Sorry, maâam, youâre on Fox. Here, unless you can prove with two pieces of ID that you are absolutely for us and love OâReilly exclusively, we have no use for youâŠ

âA hot slurry of gut feelingsâŠto harden into rigid ideologyâ?
Thatâs ironic, because itâs the best description of the Left Iâve ever seen.
Astolat almost 12 years ago
On behalf of the United Kingdom, I can only apologise (except for his views on guns, where he has had an unaccountable attack of common sense), but Iâm afraid that having got rid of him weâre not taking him back. If he arrives at Heathrow, the lights will be out and no-one will be answering the door.

Candy Crowley is superb (despite having a strippers name!).

Is it just me, or is Mimi Palinesque?

You just donât like the use of the word âkidâ for kiddies? Chilluns? Younguns? Youths?.please try to be more liberal with acceptance of diversity in vernacular.

aah, the joys of Wâs inbred idiocy and the Rightâs corpulant redundancy exude from the Pet Goat Museum. now maybe some thick coating of molasses to seal in the aroma of fetid hatred and intolerance.
and taxpayer have to pay for this. Freedom isnât free, as they say. too bad we canât sell it. Making a profit is the American Way!
The Plantation is alive and doing well, thank you very much.

No, you donât get to talk! Didnât you hear him say âIâm talking toâŠâ?

Bob Edwards (formerly of NPR) now with SirisXM is a master in encouraging his guest to talk. Long live Bob Edwards, master interviewer.

Quick! Name the last time that NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN or MSNBC disagreed on or had a radically different point-of-view on any news story. They all report the same news in the same way, day after day after day after day. I donât always agree with FOX news, but you canât say itâs not different.

âA hot slurry of gut feelingsâŠto harden into rigid ideologyâ?
Thatâs ironic, because itâs the best description of the right Iâve ever seen.
kaffekup almost 12 years ago
Thatâs true, FOX is different â the others report the news, FOX reports the right-wing slant on the news. And donât tell me âtheir news is unbiasedâ â even Jon Stewart dissects that falsehood periodically..As for other viewpoints, MSNBC has three hours of Morning Joe Scarborough (R-FL) every day. And FOX hasâŠ?
kaffekup almost 12 years ago
Iâm sorry, I donât see the slightest bit of criticism in his remarks. Iâm sure he thinks thatâs the proper way to formulate positions, and once they are created, they must be hardened to avoid the slightest correction. At least, thatâs what I see the right doing daily.

I added Doonesbury to my comic list to remind me that there are still lots of idiots with a pen.

Ah, I see we have a new State of the Union gathering place. I wonder how long it will take for the moderators to shut this one down too? Although, I must admit, the comments so far, arenât quite as mean and hateful, not yet anyway.

sandflea, I didnât say he doesnât have guts; I said he doesnât think with his gut. I have no doubt the raid on bin Laden was carefully thought out before it was green lighted. And took a lot of guts to approve.

Dean Richards at WGN radio and TV, does this a lot in his interviews. Runs over the interviewee, I mean.

Shipped to Fox ânewsâ, GOP, NRA, and possibly even KKK. The pillars of the right.

Self-aggrandizement was Hedleyâs staple from the very beginning. So was his aggrandizement of the trivial â Twitter was such a perfect fit.
Carol69 almost 12 years ago
You donât think it took serious guts to raid the BinLaden compound?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Yepers, real guts to send a bunch of kids into a Sh*t hole thousands of miles from your secure underground bunker inside the belt-way. And the best part is you could be blame Bush if the whole plan went south. Thatâs called win-win.
kaffekup almost 12 years ago
First, if it had failed, youâd have been all over him. As it was, the wingnuts gave Bush credit for it;.Second, Bush didnât have the smarts/guts to do anything except send his toy soldiers (as he saw them) to war.
kaffekup almost 12 years ago
I donât have a clue what youâre talking about. but I donât feel bad, since that makes both of us.Donât you love the race card, though? Itâs all you have.
montessoriteacher almost 12 years ago
The Gosnell trial isnât comic strip material. The fast and furious debacle started under Bush, so I donât know why you would want it discussed, considering your agenda. It takes two to tango in presenting a budget and Obama doesnât have a willing partner. There is no increasing cancer rate to due to abortion. So, I guess you will be waiting for a long time for GT to deal with it in his strip. Why donât you try some other strip? GT is too rational for such dribble.

In this country, firearms have always been used for personal protection. In the old west. a posse was put together by gathering a âmilitiaâ of locals to route out a problem. Personal protection was used against bandits, escaped slaves, and outraged indigenous people. Many groups banded together and when the men went out hunting and trapping, they made sure to leave their loved ones with a firearm and ammo all ready.
Guns are needed in the citizenâs hands even more now than in Jeffersonâs time and for the same reasons he espouses.
