Jimmy Crow: Welcome to the Sunshine State, where voter suppression is in full swing for '12! Here in Florida, the GOP fights fraud by purging rolls of ineligible voters! Sounds good to me! Uh-oh! In the first round, 20% of the purgees were actually eligible! Oh, heck! It's Florida... Who'll notice?

I think GT may be trying to use a from of natural selection to improve the stock of GoComics readers; those who are too thick to find out what has happened will fall by the wayside…

What if GT likes his new shtick better? Will we never find out about Alex? Oh yeah, it’s just a comic strip.

i made some pretty specific comments yesterday about Obama/IRS/Senators Schumer&Levin/actually using votersupression against the Tea Party to enable Obama to win re-election in 2012. Many people disagreed with my posts. I understand. In a free society we are able to express our beliefs and ideas. I understand those who disagree with my point of view, and look forward to continuing the dialogue………

It’s ironic the Republicans like to suppress the vote when they’re the ones who actually commit vote fraud.

Just to show how wrong Trudeau was. It was a Democrat that got convicted for voter fraud in Florida.

Florida’s a great place. It’s the people who live there that suck.

Lighten up, gkid. Mr. Trudeau is almost 65 years old and has been writing this strip for over 40 years. If he wants to take a break he’s earned and deserves it.Alternatively, don’t let the door smack you on the backside on your way out.

And Obama suppressed the conservative vote by using the IRS to do his dirty work.
Of course the liberals think this is okay, after all conservatists are much dangerous then the jihadist.

This thread with the bird has annoyed me each time.
Besides being in Florida today with no space program, it does not take rocket science to have an accurate voter list.

Happy Independence Day! Please don’t condemn Florida for the likes of a few bad apples. As someone who lives in Kansas, I wouldn’t want to be condemned just because of the political reputation of my state either…

Who cares!? When a first term Senator who doesn’t even have “time in grade” can be elected President, that has to tell you something. Once again, trying very hard to NOT put on a conspiracy hat, do you think anything we do as voting citizens is going to make a lick of difference? The DNC and RNC have this whole election thing down to a formula. The only question is how the elite in D.C. determine whether the next election will go to the Democrats or the Republicans?

“Nothing from Trudeau about our Independence day.”.So, you are as up-to-date and informed about GT as you are about so many other issues.Kudos. Very GOP.

Here are the facts:292 tea party groups applications for501c4 status were held up for a minimum of 1 year, some stillhave not been approved. 7 progressive groups were given token analysis, and then given 501c4 status. if you can’t understand that this is voter suppression, i don’t know what else i can say. wake up! senators schumer and levin wroteletters to the irs demanding they investigate only tea party groups(not progressives).this was, and is voter suppression, led by the very highestauthorities in the US Government. If for example, Rubio andTed Cruz had done this(sent letters demanding the IRS)investigate only progressive groups, the NY Times, ABC,CBS,NBC, and PBS would be all over this. One thing progressives don’t seem to understand, is that inthe US, we have a two party system. The job of the partyout of power is to hold the party in power accountable fortheir actions. This is the basis of a democracy. This is whatall of this is about. This will continue right up and through theelection, as it should. As a progressive, you will not be able to simply dismiss this. Sorry, things don’t work that way. You need to stop listening to only liberal networks and media. Maybe then you would understand that 1/2 of Americarealizes what you have done. Shame on the progressivesfor implementing voter suppression during the 2012election cycle. Trying to marginalize conservatives throughliberal propaganda only makes us stronger.

How and who determines if a voter is sufficiently informed and qualified?

Thanks, GoComics, for doing your job and making this a much pleasanter place to visit!

So, is skin color one way of determining who is thoroughly informed and qualified to vote?

and 80% were INeligible, they reinstated the eligible voters. Sounds like the right thing to me.

Gmartin, you should research this stuff before posting it. Did you get it in a mass email?
“Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.”No. None of the signers captured during the war died in British hands, and they weren’t tortured, either.“Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.”No. None of the signers died of wounds received in combat. Nine did die during the time of the war – but of causes unrelated to the war.“Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.”Braxton was an extremely wealthy man before the war; he lost many commercial ships during the war, and gave huge amounts of money to the cause. But he did not die “in rags” – he died what we would consider middle-class. At the time of his death, his family still owned the estates of Chericoke (still owned by the family now) and Elsing Green (now a national historic landmark and wildlife refuge).Thomas McKean (NOT “McKeam”, as erroneously stated in this screed) left stocks, bonds, and a large amount of land in Pennsylvania to his heirs when he died.
“Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery…” No one by the name of “Dillery” signed the Declaration. Did you mean to say Ellery? Or did you just post this drivel without even checking its accuracy? As to the story about Thomas Nelson’s house being destroyed, do you means the house that is now a national historic site in the Colonial National Historic Park in Virginia? Yes, Nelson gave permission for it to be fired on – but there was only damage to one wall. The house is still standing, “Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.”No, she died several YEARS later.John Hart was driven from his wife’s bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished."His wife died in October 1776. The British looted and damaged (but did not destroy) his property in December. His children were (all except two) adults at the time. He spent less than a month hiding out, before the area was re-taken by the Continental forces.I agree that we should take time to appreciate the sacrifices of our ancestors in establishing our nation. However, I think that it’s disrespectful to pass around lies and exaggerations about them. What they ACTUALLY did is reason enough to respect them. Why spread these ridiculous lies, that can easily be debinked just by looking up the biographies of the men?
