once he gets a few more years under his belt and he will finally start to care about how he looks. I taught my son how to run the washer when he was 14 and he still does most of the laundry in his family and is way better at it than I was.

Mom’s well trained

My Mother wanted me to be a bachelor, I was taught how to do laundry, to (perish the thought, iron clothes), mend and sew on buttons, and cook. All before I got into high school(55 years ago) ! !

I was just thinking how my boyfriend, at 38, still hasn’t mastered basic skills like keeping his dresser drawers neat, when I reached the last panel. That is precisely the problem: Mothers clean up after their sloppy sons & expect their wives to take over. In families where the wife is the primary breadwinner, this doesn’t change. Sexism sucks.

argy.bargy2, I just read your comments from yesterday. Sorry to hear about your relatives during WWII. My son-in-law’s father was kicked out of 1st grade in Germany in the ’30’s (c. 81 years ago) because he was Jewish. His immediate family escaped, but his grandmother was dispatched because she had ms and used a wheelchair. He is still alive; he has eight grandchildren, with the youngest being age seven.Also I attended kindergarten through the first semester of third grade in Pittsburgh. Unlike you, I didn’t have to worry about changing into a skirt during cold weather, as kids my age were wearing snow suits with snow pants, which accommodated wadded-up skirts. Congratulations for surviving this long after breathing the filthy Pittsburgh air all those years! The snow used to turn gray in a day or so, and Mom had to knead our walls every other week with weird-smelling wads of stuff like Play-Doh to get the soot off.

Why not? That’s what John’s mom did.

In the 21st century, what happens when a mother-dependent boy boy marries a girl raised the same way?

I’m not sure that training works, after what happened yesterday.

In later episodes…Michael and Deanna (?) jump off a pier into the water….he thinks to himself….You know you’re in love when they look good soaking wet.
