THE MOST ASTOUNDING FACT... ...IS THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE ATOMS THAT COMPRISE LIFE ON EARTH, THE ATOMS THAT MAKE UP THE HUMAN BODY, ARE TRACEABLE TO THE CRUCIBLES THAT COOKED LIGHT ELEMENTS INTO HEAVY ELEMENTS IN THEIR CORE, UNDER EXTREME TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURE. THESE STARS, WHEN UNSTABLE IN THEIR LATER YEARS, COLLAPSED AND EXPLODED, SCATTERING THEIR ENRICHED GUTS ACROSS THE GALAXY. GUTS ARE MADE OF CARBON, NITROGEN, OXYGEN AND ALL THE FUNDAMENTAL INGREDIENTS OF LIFE ITSELF. THESE INGREDIENTS BECOME PART OF GAS CLOUDS THAT CONDENSE AND COLLAPSE. FORMING THE NEXT GENERATION OF SOLAR SYSTEMS - STARS WITH ORBITING PLANETS. AND THESE PLANETS NOW HAVE THE INGREDIENTS FOR LIFE. SO WHEN I LOOK UP AT THE NIGHT SKY… …I KNOW THAT, YES, WE ARE PART OF THIS UNIVERSE. WE ARE IN THIS UNIVERSE. BUT PERHAPS MORE IMPORTANT THAN BOTH OF THOSE FACTS… …IS THAT THE UNIVERSE IS IN US. - NEIL DeGRASSE TYSON

Beautifully done Gavin.Anyone looking to lean more about the great big universe we rent space in, you can catch Dr Degrasse Tyson on Star Talk Radio. His show is fun and informative so look it up.

I’ve read a bit of and listened a lot to Dr. Neil’s words, and about half way through this quotation I knew it was him! He has such a unique expository style. He’s the ideal combination of humanist and scientist. Good choice (and a nice break from that run of Bruce Lee quotes…). Really nice artwork, too! Thanks, Gavin.

And with a great sense of humor, too. Sagan took himself way too seriously.
