I had 5 weeks after 20 years, under a āprivateā union, and it felt luxurious. Most times I would hook onto a 3 or 4 day holiday and it felt like several vacations every year.
I think offices should have pools and hot tubs. People might spend more hours at work.
I worked in a company that was going through the y2K transition (you old timers remember that?). Anyway, the test was to turn all the computers ahead to about an hour before New Yearās on a friday evening when the rest of the office was out for the weekend. About 5 PM, the crew comes in and starts decorating the office for New Years. They had party hats and noise makers. This was July. I did not ask if they had booze.
We Americans are so full of ourselves we think we have it allā¦..Sure, we have the best of everythingā¦Except the most precious gift of allā¦timeā¦.. Americans donāt have any time to themselvesā¦ā¦..
I could understand her getting the pool after being in labor with child, but what did the guy next door do to qualify for the beach umbrella? Nyuk, nyuk.
I worked at three main jobs before forced retirementā¦..
Ranch laborā¦.very little set vacation timeMeat Department janitor for a grocery store chainā¦No vacation as it was part time. Only after a family emergency did I get a *paid vacation ( vacation to go and train to care for my Mother who was being put on home dialysisā¦.paid ONLY to the maximum hours allowed by the company)Telemarketing : No paid vacation to non management employeesā¦..also any time taken had to be made up before said time was takenā¦.I lasted 4 years ā 1998 to 2002!
@Blue-BoyI did NOT miss the point. When you are married with children: days off mean1. Fix crap that is broken around the house ā which costs money. 2. Taking family to places I donāt care to go to for educational reasons ā which costs money. 3. If I was to take a real vacation, it would cost a lot more than I get paid per week, plus aggravation. 4. I would rather have my hobbies that I can do in spare time, which still cost money ā but less.
Did anyone notice that it was a man with the umbrella and drinks cooler next to the woman in the pool, and the guyās umbrella was hanging over the galās pool? Hmmm maybe they went together for the long weekendā¦ Office romance is not dead.

Why do people keep expecting comics to comply with the laws of physics? Itās a comic! Itās humor, not gritty realism.
