All those contacts, none of them backed-up!OMG, my whole Left Hemisphere is GONE!!

There should be a commentary that explains this strip. I haven’t been able to laugh or understand it for quite some time.

Sometimes I think so too. But today maybe it is that it takes years to build an airport – and she has had her phone since before it was built. Time for a new phone?

She’s so preoccupied with the phone that despite walking that route daily, she’s never noticed the construction, or the aircraft after it was finished. Because of the phone, she’s been completely unaware of what was going on around her.

pbarnrob, actually, I have found that to be a problem, I used to keep a list of phone numbers in my wallet, but I don’t any more…It’s all on my phone…Without it, I have no idea how to call anybody, especially on their cell….

That is why I don’t listen to music when I am walking. I find out that I am focused more on what is around me whereas before I just focused on the music and missing a lot.

Janis just wanted to know something and no longer had her smart phone to look up the answer.

PUT DOWN THE PHONE and pay attention to what is going on around you. Amazing what you might discover. like birds, neighbors, an airport……..lol

I used to really love Arlo and Janis but these story lines seem to get more and more stale with passing time. No Gene? No boat? What gives . . . or is it just me?

I was waiting in the ER, sitting across from a woman and her two daughters. The three of them were texting each other. Mom’s ring tone was a quacking duck, and every so often she would fuss with one of the kids – sitting next to her! -. because they didn’t respond to her message. It was a good thing I was too ill to move fast.

" don’t think this strip is meant to be “understood”, as much as it is thought out to make the reader think ….."It does make one think, and sometimes I have to read the comments to get the point. But the Sept. 4_Pearls before Swine_ still has me stumped, after I’ve read the comments and the rest of the week’s strip. The lady penguin’s (?) remark has served as a kind of koan, being turned over and over in my mind. Maybe I need to get a life, or maybe this is it. :- O

Quixotic and true. But it’s the way she stays in touch with Gene and family and friends. Very essential.

So THIS is life outside the screen?

People who stare at a screen all the time miss out on real life. Sad.

If you have a smart phone you must have a Gmail account. If you enter all your contacts in Gmail it will always be there to upload to your phone if your phone dies, you get a new one, etc. It only takes seconds to sync.

I dont know anyone this age so attached to their phone, its usually the younger peeps missing out on the world around them.
