B.D.: Ray! Ray: Hey, man-- I'm in town! On my way to Fort Drum. I'm headed back to the sandtrap. B.D.: Again? What's that, six tours? Ray: Lost track. You got time for a beer, dawg? Or you busy? Ray: No, no... Boopsie: No, no? B.D.: I mean, sort of. How about in 15 minutes?

If he’s “on the job”, why is he answering the phone at all?
jster51 about 11 years ago
@Kaffekup, Because when the phone rings @ 1am, someone usually needs help!

Ask that to 25% of the troops in Afghanistan right now…depending on who’s survey you read.

Korean conflict (they were scared to call it a war) never ended, they just paused fighting, still kill some Americans every now and then just to show they can do it and get away with it. One time under President Ford, our response was to cut down a tree in the DMZ.

What I got from today’s strip, among other things, was that Boopsie could tell that BD was talking to Ray [BD mentioned six tours], and she encouraged him to help Ray. She’s a good woman.

I think this is a rerun. I thought I’d heard that Trudeau postponed doing all-new strips until early November, and that only the Sunday strips are new at this point.

First off, the Korean war is not over, there’s just a cease fire. (look it up) .Second off, these are re-runs (only Sun. is new for and we’ve gone back to a point before Ray’s PTSD was diagnosed. IIRC to the point just before that in the story arc.

The Korean War is not over — heck, the Civil War is not over. I’m looking across the street at a Confederate flag right now.
