Uhm, I think aunt Betty is a bit confused.

Aww too cute – now go plant them in the garden.

I feel your pain, Jimbo. Your relatives’ hearts are in the right place but sometimes they’re too lazy to look up the source material.

One more for Rose, let’ see if she thinks she’s adorable. One thing about this motif is they can go to each house, ring the doorbell and then jump in the garden and play statues.

Now I have A Christmas Story in my head when Ralphie got the rabbit costume for Christmas. “He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny.”

Forget the trick or treating. Go to the store….get some hats, and gloves from the dollar store along with some candy and some gift bags and take the kid to the local shelter so that he can distribute them to the kids in need. Or get some healthy snacks and take them to the children’s ward at the local hospital so that he can give it to the children there. No dressing up like a stupid knome required. The feeling that you have brightened someone’s day, will last far longer than some candy.

Rose needs to put on her costume too, it’s still in the box.

Aunt Bettys heart was in the right place. She tried. Give her props for that. J.R.R. Tolkin is not real easy to understand, and some people just don’t like it. But at least she tried.

Cute!

Contessa, that’s a noble thought, but I don’t think that traditional Halloween activities and charity work are mutually exclusive. I recall the absolute feeling of wonder and awe I had when I was in a Halloween parade in either Indiana, PA, or New Bethlehem. That was nearly seventy years ago, and I still remember it. Nowadays I do some charity work, and that’s great, too.

Hmmm. Jimbo could be the gnome king and Pasquale his minion….Oh right. Much older mythos.

I guess Aunt Bettie has no more read those books than I, but I like her because she shares my love of costumes.

There’s no place like gnome, there’s no place like gnome.

So where is the feminine version of the hobbit-cum-garden gnome? She always makes three costumes!

Glad to know that Jimbo is a Tolkien fan. One more reason to love him….
