A wink is good as a nod to a blind bat. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

That was my interpretation of Arlo’s comments also Doctor Toon. Guess we just think on a higher level and a less realistic one too.

Have to admit my mind went the same wa as Doctor Toon and Doublepaw. Usually it’s pretty well in the gutter; wonder what went wrong this time?

Whatever went wrong with yours, Rugeirn Drienborough went wrong with mine, too. That’s what I thought Arlo meant until other “more worldly” comments appeared.

no heat on here, supposed to be 80 today, wish it would be a chilly day.

Knowing Arlo like I do, I got his drift right away. Another “Arlo Award” nominee…

The quotes around “should” indicate that he thinks it shouldn’t have been turned on a month ago. If he were trying to say “let’s get frisky tonight,” the quotes would have to be around “heat” or the whole phrase, “turn the heat on”.

Shouldn’t the quotes be around “We” instead of “should”?

Toon and paw paw, that’s my take, too….Arlo is in “Dad” mode today….Dads are always like that….

My thought, too. There’s no reason to put the quote marks around “should”. It would have been better to put them around “heat” since that was the double entendre, not “should”.

…so far, it’s just cold – don’t say “drift”!! – anyway, I agree with the above posters, I think it’s a “Dad” comment myself…

Whichever way Arlo meant it, her long experience with him means she automatically presumes he is more interested in heat from friction, rather than the central heat. Oh, well. At least she can look forward to the prospect of wine served tubside during her hot bath.

yes, that was my take also. the first one causing the winks was too obvious.

Proper phrasing would have been Turn UP the heat tonight

This was definately a strip that the comments helped make the comic. You guys crack me up…….thanks for the laugh kids.
