Well, I guess we’re not going to find out whether Junior still likes R.E.M. :D There are much more important matters to discuss, and I’m thinking that various commenters guess that Sparkle is pregnant will turn out to be correct.

Christmas Early was saying that Dick has a large family. It looks like Junior will have a large family himself. In the past, babies have always sparked interest in the strip. Maybe this will help boost the “ratings” too.

Junior’s fondness for R.E.M. was established during the Nightmare Machine storyline in 1989.

Aww. They’re going to announce it to the world on TV. Isn’t that nice?! I hope Wendy Wichel shows up soon, because things can’t get much worse here with Christmas Early (knowing as we do that Abner Kadaver is even now laying the groundwork for some kind of plot against Tracy).

…a son calls his old man by his last name?!

Junior is adopted and has always called Dick Tracy, “Tracy,” ever since they became friends.

No thinking police officer would stand for his or her family to be on television where everyone could seethem and get their names. It is an invitation for the criminal element to take action against the family

The pregnancy guess is probably right, but one thought I had was that they would renew their vows. The minister is there. This is like This is Your Life. Surely Tess is there, too.

Chris Jackson’s pining for all things moon may be annoying, but he’s far from alone. It’s just that most of us have piped down for now..That said, even I am scratching my head at some of his references. What the sam hill is “espers”?.And I’m hopeful that his reference to My Little Pony was tongue in cheek!.As for me, I’m still having difficulty that Mike and Joe chose not to explore “Moon Maid lives” and the inherent complications that would have for Junior’s current wife..A baby for Sparkle and Junior pretty much puts the nail in that coffin..Let’s give the Moon Maid a rest for now. We know she’s not really Mysta; even M.C. knows she’s not really Mysta..So, let’s move on.

While it is true that Mysta Chimera is not exactly Mysta Tracy, it is certain that the subject used for the doctors’ procedures no longer exists. With her memories wiped, Ghote and Sail used her body as a host for Mysta’s DNA, personality and partial memory implants. Shades of Frankenstein, indeed. We don’t know what the long-term effects of Mysta’s “superimposed” DNA will be. It seems likely that the changes wrought by the many procedures performed by Ghote and Sail will be unpredictable and ongoing. The appearance of Mysta’s family suggests they will play a role in the next chapter of Mysta Chimera, whenever that may unfold. While I’d hoped Mr. Curtis would be bolder, I appreciate the ways a skilled storyteller has left himself a multitude of fascinating possibilities for the future.I’m ambivalent about an addition to Junior and Sparkle’s family, yet appreciate how Tracy’s TV appearance has provided a chance for a little backstory refresher. The quality work of Team Tracy is attracting many new fans, so it makes sense to use Early’s show to add a little depth to Tracy’s personality. It is also a smart way to bring back Bonnie, while providing a link to the Kadaver contract.

They have to call him “Tracy!” Calling him by his first name would give rise to the obvious. Now in Locher’s case……..

Neil Wick already answered your comment about Jr. addressing Tracy by his last name, but I would like to add a few comments myself. . .Jr. was a street urchin known only as “the kid”, and Tracy rescued him from a life of petty thievery and other crimes. Tracy became a role model for him, and from the first few days of their relationship, the kid called him Tracy – it really means respect, considering the unique relationship they have. Plus, Sam and the Chief and Lizz tend to call him Tracy as well – a tradition started by Chester Gould. Again, in the context of the strip, it means respect, not disrespect.

Stupefyingly dull story interlude. When will it ever end????I know different folks have different tastes, but just how short is your attention span, anyway? This little interlude is another Chester Gould style tradition, and it is only lasting a week. Plus, in the middle of it, there have been hints of the darker drama that is pending. Give it time to develop, please.

The strip can’t be action-packed all the time. This gives a little depth to the characters, which makes things more interesting in the long run. It’s not going to end right away, because we still have Wendy Wichel’s segment to come.

I believe I can help you with that. They are telepaths, that is, people (or beings) possessing the ability of E.S.P._________________________

Mediums who contact the supernatural are also considered esp-ers. In fact, sthe term esper can cannote anyone with any type of paranormal ability. Espers are popular characters in the game Magic: The Gathering, which I imagine Chris probably plays.

There have been many psychics and mediums in Tracy stories over the years and the strip has delved into the paranormal. Flattop’s ghost once possessed the body of his brother.

As if this strip actually needs that kind of help? ;-)

Yeah, I’m certainly not suggesting that the strip needs any help, but good things can always be improved. I wish the strip could have the kind of impact that it did when Sparkle Plenty was born, for example, but we don’t live in that world anymore.

@Ray TolerYou’re mistaken. The Nightmare Machine was a separate storyline. It was invented by Dr. Morpheus and was used to affect peoples’ dreams. Tracy’s dreams were invaded and he faced gunfighter versions of Flattop and the Brow in a Wild West setting. The storyline was later collected and released as a mass market paperback, around the time of the 1990 feature film.

Tracy’s profile in Panel 3 reminds me of New Hampshire’s Old Man of the Mountain before it collapsed.

Who else thinks that Sparkle has a bun in the oven? Its either that or Junior will let Mysta move back in and he’ll have two hot wives serving him at the same time! Some guys have all the luck!

@Jonathan K.Growing up, my family used to drive by the old man of the mountain and I always thought it looked a lot like Tracy. At a distance, I think it resembled his profile even more than your photo shows. I was sad to hear that it had fallen. Do you know if the Indian one still exists? It wasn’t as easy to see as the old man as I recall.
