Seems Kadaver is going to use the old method that SUPERMAN was afraid of having Luthor and others use on anyone who knew who he was….that being, if you can’t get Tracy directly, go after his loved ones. That way you get him in to a situation he can’t walk away from.
For those of you who may not know, Chester Gould created “Dick Tracy”, Edna was his wife, & Jean was his daughter (all in real life). “Gordon” was a character made up for a Dick Tray film in he 1940’s.
Ever since I started reading old Moon Period Dick Tracy comic strips on the in the Google Drive ilovecomix Directory, I’ve been having Dick Tracy-related dreams. The first involved the cast of my crossover fan fiction going to the abandoned Moon Valley and finding an Air Car in working condition. I don’t remember much from the second one, all I remember was that Moon Maid (the original, not Mysta Chimera) was in it.
Good morning, all! I hope that vile schemer Kadaver will have an appropriately Gouldian style demise, maybe drowning in a vat of lemonade and cherry syrup :-P
Hopefully whatever Abner has in store for Tracy takes a long, ingenius way to escape; not just someone walking in like last time. Although the truth is, it is a lot harder to root for or be worried for Dick than, say, Sam, Liz, or Junior because the former has the personality of a robot, while the others have been better developed…
I don’t get why Rikki has to hack into the TV signal to make a recording; why not do it like most other folks do, just by DVD?I guess exposing Jean and the nameless nephews makes them targets for Kadaver. They’d make nice kidnapping victims and hostages to force Tracy into a dire situation….
I do not like this very much. I’m afraid I stick to the “old school” approach to the adventure hero: he should have no immediate family. Besides, I remember during the Collins-Locher years Tracy saying once his father’s name was also “Richard”.
Is Tracy THAT dumb? I can understand that Christmas Early is, but not Tracy! It’s like asking him for his SSN and VISA card number. Who knows, this interview might have more viewers than the 2012 Super Bowl in five hundred languages, including Romania – Home of the Cyber Crooks!
Yes, Kadaver might want the whole interview, rather than the broadcast edit—but the information about Tracy’s family was probably more a bonus than a goal.
As said last Sunday, the purpose of the interview is to do a profile on Tracy. A profile would include questions about his family. Christmas Early came to Tracy’s office last Monday to go over the questions that she would ask. Tracy has had all week to prepare his answers. Besides, the information that Tracy gives about his family in today’s strip is nothing anyone couldn’t look up on the internet. Tracy’s immediate family (Junior, Sparkle, Tess) are also open books. Sparkle is famous in her own right and so is Honeymoon (recall she read about herself on the internet). There is no reason for Tracy to keep details about his family secret. Everything is already out there.
Wendy Wichel’s questions which will be asked later will be more unexpected to Tracy which is why Christmas Early told Tracy not to relax for that portion. Christmas Early is more of an Entertainment reporter (celebrity news, softball questions) while Wendy Wichel is an opinionated investigative reporter who is attempting to find flaws or cause embarrassment. While Wendy’s program is hard hitting, Christmas Early’s program is more laid back with plush couches and an on set bartender.
I am not sure whether or not the show is being broadcast live or not. A live program would be unusual but if that were the case, why would Rikki not just DVR it? On Friday, Kadavar said he needed a “special recording.” I am not sure what he meant by that unless the interview is being taped and he is hacking into the unedited feed for some purpose. Or, perhaps he is hacking into the signal for the purpose of breaking into the broadcast to issue a warning or make a demand.
By the way, does that bartender look a little like a young Mike Curtis?
For someone who starts out “There’s not much to tell,” Dick surely tells a lot, doesn’t he? Tomorrow, will we learn the name, address, and phone number of his third cousin twice removed?
Usually, in Dick Tracy, if there is something out of the ordinary, it means something. I wonder if there is any significance to the bartender having an eye patch. Also, that “Tracy Throwdown” drink puzzles me – what in the world does that even mean? Is there supposed to be an inside joke – something to do with the list of ingredients, or what?
Don´t forget his twin brother – forgot his true name- known by friends as Sharptop, and who was once possesed by Flattop. A famous scientist or something.
Gordon Tracy appeared in the 1937 Republic serial, DICK TRACY. He was kidnaped by the villain, “The Lame One” also known as “The Spider” and was given a brain operation to turn him into a criminal. Different actors played Gordon before and after.

What a great story, linked to the Gould family + the Tracy Films of the 40’s!

Well stated Pequod77. Will Kadaver call on Johnny Nothing/The Blank to take Tracy out?

Going after the family? That’s low, Kadaver! You’d think that someone Dick has known for several years, would know not to ask such questions.

Tracy doesn’t like the drink. He’s probably thinking “Tracy Throw-Up” would be a more suitable name.

Do the events of the first DICK TRACY serial take place in current continuity? That’s the only place Gordon Tracy appeared.

Are these old strips? Or has Rikki been locked up for years? If she can’t TiVo the show, it’ll probably be on YouTube or Netflix shortly.
