I interpreted it as being a graphic representation of what happens when an elderly person gets up and walks from one room to another, but forgets why s/he went into the other room after getting there (being on strong medication, this not uncommonly happens to me as well, although it occasionally happens even to younger folks). :-)
I’m really thinking this IS writer’s block, and the further Horace gets from his computer, the less his thinking is obstructed. Don’t overthink it, Horace….
If it were writers block, the questions would still linger, there… you can only hope that they’ll leave by the time you get back from your “mental jogging”… – If it were the “Forgetful Jones” phenom where you forget by the time you get into another room, there would still be question marks once you return.. not unless they reshape themselves into exclamation points (ahas!!!)…
