Horace is an equine alchemist who can use hermetic sorcery to create elements out of their mere symbols! (The Finns were once widely believed to practice weather-changing magic; until well into the 19th Century, ship captains were reluctant to hire on Finnish sailors for this reason [although I’d consider that an advantage rather than a risk, as what weather-mage sailor would want his own ship to sink in a storm?]).
Orace was a mule companion to Flip the Frog in 1930s comics. Orace was supposed to be a pack animal for Flip, but wasn’t really much help. I guess it’s time to visit the past on GoComics. ‘Nancy’ just tumbled into the past to visit King Kong and The Shadow.

If “OXO” had fallen into the blender, Horace could have taken a broth.

If he puts a “C” and two "O"s in, he’s got soda water!
