Yes, the beads make no sense. First, they’re the style of 12 year olds that have too much time on their hands. And second, quite obviously, she has NO time for makeup or anything, but she has time to put beads in her hair? Unless they’ve just been continuously in there since she was 12… That would explain the hair, I guess.

Did Alex ever get a job? After graduating MIT as an engineer, (especially if she was near the top of her class) she should have had job offers in plenty – I did, and I graduated from Ohio State several years ago. (I was one of the few female EEs in my class at the time.)
