HmmâŠ. A San Diego Reference in that book?âŠ. âŠ..â Hmm⊠a reference to Susan Newman?âŠ.is this the Susan Newman, PhD ? if so, is this a reference to the âpsychâ behind Luann and Tiffany, or just a general shoutout?⊠â And also, I guess weâll spend today, debating if Tiffany really didnât plan on going to Moony Uni with QuillâŠ

Tiff would never say âwhomâ
seyleigh about 11 years ago
Cool, so Tiffany trying for Moony Uni too. It looks like most of Luannâs friends, acquaintances, and enemies will stay in the area.
âThe whole damn world is just as obsessedWith whoâs the best dressed and whoâs having sex,Whoâs got the money, who gets the honeys,Whoâs kinda cute and whoâs just a messAnd you still donât have the right lookAnd you donât have the right friendsNothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trendsHigh school never endsâ
In this case, not even the names will change. Those poor girls!

Thatâs what my parents, aunts, and uncles said when they went to theirs. The cliques and people were still the same.
But, my mom was very happy to realize that most of the girls who avoided and teased her because her parents were divorced were now divorced themselves and still working while she was comfortably retired.

another fist fight between Tiff and Luann brewing?
seismic-2 Premium Member about 11 years ago
It seems as if the core cast will change less next year than this Sundayâs strip implied. Tiffany is one who I thought would definitely leave Pitt after graduation, to try to land small jobs in Hollywood. So will next yearâs strip be pretty much the same as always? The only difference is that Luann will not be in class with her old chums. since she will be at Pitt CC and they will be at Mooney Uni, but after hours everybodyâs still here. Rosa will have left, so Gunther will be alone. Maybe he will meet Rosa-2 at Mooney Uni and will be better capable of carrying on a romance then?

IZATSO, âLittle Ms Possessive?â Well Seeing as How Tiff Had Q-Ball First and YOU pretty much SNATCHED Him Outta HER Clutches, I Think the FAIR Thing to Do Is to have a Third and Deciding Round Between You and Tiff.
Now NORMALLY, Iâd Suggest an Oil Wrestling Match to the Death between You Two, but since This Is a âFamily Stripâ Luann, YOU Should Attend Moony U in the Fall, and PROTECT Your ALLEGED âPropertyâ.
Okay, Now Thatâs Settled, let the Hair-Pulling Begin.

The Moony Uni Theater Department is going to be a haven for Luannâs friends, or frenemies, or rivalsâŠ.In any case, it should be a very lively place. Tiffany Farrell Goes to College will be an adventure, whether it involves âwhomâ or notâŠ.
Willow Mt Lyon about 11 years ago
Tiffany and Luann have been battling it out since Aaron Hill, and Tiffany said some pretty mean things to Luann during those days. Luann isnât being half as mean to Tiffany as Tiffany was to Luann. The roles have been reversed only slightly.
Normally a girl would want to go to the same college as her boyfriend. Since she isnât, I predict heartbreak for Luann. She might become alienated from her friends since she wonât be with them at Moony.
Remember that one of Luannâs New Yearâs resolutions was to not let Tiffany bug her. There will be a whole lot of bugging going on. There already is.
I recall that when Luann started that a woman wrote to the Sacramento Bee stating, âPlease donât insult my 84-year-old intelligence with Luann.â That sounds like Tiffany and Luann at 84 years of age light years from now. LOL!
TORAD_07 about 11 years ago
Nice try there, Tiff. :) Looking forward to see how this arc ends.
ACTIVIST1234 about 11 years ago
ReallyBad â you make some excellent points. Iâm going to have to make a point of reading your postsâ now if they were just a little more concise!*But I do disagree with your analysis of Panel 3. To me it looks like Tiff is actually gloating. And I donât think anyone âsettlesâ for Moony Uni. Itâs said to have such a great theater dept. that Quill actually came halfway around the world to attend it!
genorino about 11 years ago
Has tiffany ever mentioned her mother? I canât ever remember her saying âmy momâ. Another single parent situation?
ACTIVIST1234 about 11 years ago
Also, please note that she is a teacher. Yesterday she taught the girl how to âflipâ someone off with her hair & attitude. Today she is teaching Luann how to âflipâ someone off with jealousy.

@LeviticusYou have brought up a point that has bugged me for years. Both Bernice and Crystal are only portrayed as snarky and condescending to their supposed BFFs. I think we are so assume they actually like them and give them emotional support; this is not depicted in the comic itself. I think Crystal donated a bathroom mirror once in Tifâs name? A RARE occurrence. I donât ever remember Bernice being sweet to Luann.-I admit both Luann and Tiffany are self-centered and seem to always dominate the topic of conversations. I can see why their associates would get tired of that. Donât the girls EVER act like friends to each other?
Boophilus about 11 years ago
@LeviticusThanks, L!Yes, 90% of the tension between Luann and Tiffany is about attention from boys. But unless something else changed, Bernice and Crystal would still be catty friends.

Look at it this way, if Tiffany goes to college as she is right now, she has extreme flexibility. If she finds some field of study she likes better and which likes her better, she can switch to it. If she finds a richer dude or one she actually likes for himself, she is free to switch that way too.Shoot, it might not even be a dude..HAPPY HUNTING, TIFFANY
JayBluE about 11 years ago
And donât forget she has an âOxâ following after her⊠and sometimes, it seems that his following holds her attentionâŠ..and she returns some of itâŠ

I heard a couple days ago that the charactersâ personalities in Gilliganâs Island were based on the seven deadly sins. Is that what the main high school age characters in Luann are based on? 1. Luann 2. Bernice 3. Delta 4. Gunther 5. Knute 6. Tiffany 7. Chrystal

More insight to Tiffâs well connected Father. She has no ambition to go to any college. And seems to hate any idea the she will have to ever be self sufficient. Daddy will not have his little girl go through the humiliation of being rejected by any college, even the junior college Luann is going to. So he SAID that she is going to Moony Uni, the fix is in, just like the Drama Camp adventure. Plus Moony Uni may have a âbetter classâ of potential future husbands for her to find, of course, looking at from a Daddies point of view.

Iâve been to three of my class reunions (10th, 20th, and 25th), but I donât see the point of having them. To me, theyâre just an excuse to try to show up people who werenât even worth showing up to begin with.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
They actually do have a mobile app for GoComics âŠ. but 10 minutes of using it on your phone, and youâd want to switch back to the desktop version on your phone⊠â If you have touch, thereâs the long-press to highlight everything you typed, and then copy, re-post it and then you can delete the old post⊠or if you catch yourself during your composing, you can long press and then choose to highlight just that word or sentence..â If you have already been trying those things before, you can also switch the auto correct off in your phone keyboardâs settings, (or your phoneâs main settings [sometimes listed under âword predict", âT-4 predictionâ, or something similar â]),depending on the phone you useâŠ.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
IIRC, Greg said something somewhere about Quillâs name origins⊠â And IIRC, it had to do with a Quill feather being used for writing, as Quill bonded with Luann over songwritingâŠ.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
never use a phone to do a computerâs work. ^99% of the time itâs trueâŠ.but this morning/late eveningâs ânew dayâs postsâ seemed to be the 1%, where for some reason, the server went down on everybodyâŠusing the phone helps to let you know if thereâs a problem on your computer, or on the GoComics site, etc,⊠â Or if itâs just a local network problem, then the phone, for that bit of time, doesnât seem too bad to useâŠ.

Daddy could be a Moony alum ^And in addition, could be a big âboosterâ of the Uniâs programs there⊠keeping her where his money already goesâŠ
ORMouseworks about 11 years ago
I think Tiffany isnât telling the truth about her Dad Making her attend MUâŠOf Course she knows that Quill will be there in the Theater program! Even though Quill has shown no interest in Tiffany lately, Tiffany might be thinking that sheâll have another chance to draw him into her web as they will probably be working/studying together. Luannâs next step should be to apply to MU, perhaps in general studies, so she can keep an eye on what might be happening between Tiffany and Quill. (And also have a better chance at finding what she Really wants to do with her life.) Do I feel sorry for the Tiff? Not really. She might have other friends and acquaintances that donât appear in the strip; Greg can only do so much for her. Flame away⊠;)

Tiffany is not the cool, popular girl that rarely loses! She is a lonely, unpopular girl with no friends who almost always loses, and who has one goal of acting and even Luann is portrayed as better at her at it even though Luann puts no effort towards it. The story of Tiffany is beyond tragic.^^Ever hear of karma? For years Tiff treated everyone like dirt; this is just her reaping what she sowed for so long.
Mikeyj about 11 years ago
I would think it is a general shout out, but the real-life Susan Newman does not have a book called âThe Magic Bugâ listed in her bibliography (or any childrenâs books that I can tell).^^Thereâs a Susan Newman who posts a lot at Andy Capp, but, I canât recall her coming here

Tiff is already planning to snap a photo of herself and Quill in the sack. With Quill at college and away from Luann, he could become lonely and vulnerable to an attack. I suppose at the right moment â Tiff would score with most guys.
lmonteros about 11 years ago
Four kids, four college gradsâand it was never as easy as saying âMy dad said something aboutâŠ.â Kids have to work hard to apply for colleges, and in most cases, the apps were due a month ago. Unless Daddy wrote her essay, filled out her app, doctored her grades, and forged her electronic signiture, she isnât going anywhere.

Luann, our heroine, has become an unpleasant bully who attempts to undermine those around her, the proverbial crab dragging others back into the boiling water with her. Mr. Evans, I once genuinely enjoyed your strip. Now I just wonder what the hell happened to you.

Actually, with a one-word response, there is not way of knowing whether âWho?â or âWhom?â is correct. One is right if the full sentence is âWho is that?â, and the other is right if the full sentence is âWhom do you mean?â
jrankin1959 about 11 years ago
With this story arc in particular, I was kind of hoping to see some thawing between Luann and Tiffany. Just about all the characters seem to be getting ready for life after Pitts H.S. and are growing. Even in yesterdayâs panel, Luann seemed to be seeing some appreciation for Tiffany. Whatâs wrong with a little reciprocity?
JayBluE about 11 years ago

JayBluE about 11 years ago
Have you stopped to consider âGerryLeeâ re-visiting, as well?⊠GL was a fan of Tiffany enough to want to articulate that much about her⊠furthermore, Really Badâs posts actually lead to a point and go somewhereâŠ. â And, too, I had someone to say that I must have been DW when I first started posting⊠so itâs easy to suspect, but this evidence would seem for the time to be âcircumstantialââŠ.. I have come to appreciate that time proves things.. give it enough time, and if so, the posts would âself-destruct on their ownâ⊠â And again, the posts RB makes here are specific , and actually make points and lead somewhere⊠and note the absence of that âthumbsâ thing that I wonât repeatâŠ
JayBluE about 11 years ago
Iâm not saying that itâs not possibleâŠ. it is quite possible⊠â But, like a good detective, one has to âlet the details add upâ, and let the patterns come together, and not âforceâ it⊠focus on a specific pattern, and let the person(s) âtrip themselves upâ⊠or else one can easily give them a chance to âdeny the accusationâ, or even evade it somehow, if we jump too quickly before âitâs time to point the finger at the butlerââŠ. â At this point, it could still be a number of possiblilties, including what you proposeâŠ.
Mikeyj about 11 years ago
So if someone was a jerk in the past they should be lonely forever? If not forever, then how many years would be acceptable to you?^^Well, the point is that Tiffany spent years treating pretty much everyone like crap, using them, making fun, etc. and when you treat people like that, there arenât going to be many, who will forgive that easily.

I submit that ReallyBad is, in reality, the one, the only, the original (drum roll, please):
DONNY (a.k.a. DONKEY) WALLACE!^^I find that hard to believe as RBâs responses are actually well thought out and not endlessly rambling, going nowhere. On the other hand, there was a woman who was here a short time, last year, but, left because she was a Tiff fan and didnât like all the negative comments about her. Canât recall what she called herself, but, seems like a better match, than D!

You seem to be implying that Tiffany does not study very hard, or at all, but thereâs no evidence to support your implication ^^Several years of Tiff falling just behind Luann and just ahead of Knute in the worst grades derby is a bit of a hint
JayBluE about 11 years ago
And sometimes, a personâs writing is kind of like their fingerprint⊠if a person were to try to disguise themselves, no matter how they do it, something of their writing nature, and their personality is bound to show up in their stuff, sooner or laterâŠ.. one canât help but revert to their âoriginalâ mode of expressions, their ânaturalâ way of speakingâŠthat and the temptation out there for them to want toâŠ.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly although Gregâs grandchildren will have to keeping doing the strip. At least this may be a clue to next year, the first college year. That will last about 3 or 4 years, but hey Toni and Brad will probably get married, and adopt Shannon, so there is that \This strip always pulls you back every day
seismic-2 Premium Member about 11 years ago
> Oh, BTW⊠Luann is the way she is because Gregâs writen her that way.>And heâs written a needy, clingy teen-aged girl who thinks almost entirely of herself. Thatâs a common character in fiction (and in real life), but why should we excuse her actions, just because her writer makes her do them?

âWork ethic is about building character through diligence and hard work, and producing new skills from it,â.Interesting definition.Normally work ethic is thought of showing up on time, doing the work required to the best of your ability and doing it day after day without fail.-Letâs see what wikipedia says:.Work ethic is a value based on hard work and diligence. It is also a belief in the moral benefit of work and its ability to enhance character. An example would be the Protestant work ethic. A work ethic may include being reliable, having initiative, or pursuing new skills..Workers exhibiting a good work ethic in theory should be selected for better positions, more responsibility and ultimately promotion. Workers who fail to exhibit a good work ethic may be regarded as failing to provide fair value for the wage the employer is paying them and should not be promoted or placed in positions of greater responsibility...Ahh, we all three pretty much agree
