Rose: Peekaboo scratched our furniture...let's show her our appreciation.
Jimbo: All future claw sharpening will take place right here with the log of your choice!
Peekaboo: That was total sarcasm...I'm not being rewarded at all!
The problem is, if you donât catch kitty in the act and either spray him/her with water or make a loud noise (both things that cats hate), the cat doesnât get it when you finally do punish him. He needs to associate scratching furniture with something really unpleasant, so the only way to break that habit is to show the consequence right when the scratching is happeningâŠ.
The problem isnât that you donât catch the cat in the act and punish them at that particular moment. They know theyâre doing the wrong thing. You can tell by the way they look at you when you catch them at it. They got that âOops, bustedâ kind of look.
Having cats declawed is actually having their toes removed. Itâs incredibly painful and cats cannot tolerate an amount of pain medication that would help. So theyâre in pain until they heal. Never have a cat âdeclawedâ.

I have had many cats in my life, and itâs been my experience
that theyâll just wait till I leave and do what they want anyhow!
Or maybe my cats have just been incredibly strong willed!

Iâve had multiple cats declawed. All have done well. My vet is a pro. Iâve never had a single problem.
