Boehner’s skin tone is clashing with the flames in the fireplace.

It looks like BC has been hijacked by Mallard Fillmore this week. And what does “doesn’t light well” even mean??

And time to remove this from my favorites so I don’t see it anymore. The politicizing is annoying enough but the comments end up even worse over the course of a day. Used to be it was OK for people to disagree, now there is no such thing as discourse anymore, just sniping. Goodbye BC. It was nice while it lasted.

I generally quit following comics that rely on lame jokes about the alleged intellectual deficiencies of viewers of FoxNews or “Tea baggers.” The Boehner joke wasn’t funny when it was new, and that was years ago. Mean spirited epithets are the heart of what leftists affirm is “humor.” Matt Groening, asked “when The Simpsons will end,” usually responds “at least two more years – one to run out of ideas, and one to run it into the ground.” We may be witnessing the end of BC.

The beauty of BC was that Johnny Hart occasionally remembered, respectfully, the power of the Almighty.

I hadn’t realized that I wandered into the editorial cartoons. I guess you can add me to the ones who are going to drop this one if it keeps up.

Finally. After all these years since Mr. Hart’s passing, the strip is becoming political again instead of “fluffy”!

I read the comics to get away from politics. Of course, this will be printed in some papers that wouldn’t carry Doonesbury.

The real pity is that politics is such a target-rich environment for humor. So are a lot of other areas in life. Some humorists are funny. Those that aren’t have to rely on vulgarities and bathroom humor. There is an analogy to teenaged rock bands here, “If you can’t be good, be loud.”

I fully understand the intended humor of this strip, and even if I totally agreed with the cartoonist’s political point of view; it just isn’t funny. In fact it’s just plain mean. Why not pick on a politician that speaks with a lisp, or is cross-eyed? How about a joke about the president being kicked in the balls?

There is absolutely no political humor here. Making fun of people’s physical defects or misfortunes is something pre-schoolers do. I think if you are old enough to read the strip, you have some measure of maturity and your sense of humor is more developed than this.

Just who is the intended audience of his strip? I can’t see the papers carrying this crap for much longer. Cartoons are supposed to be either funny or witty. This is neither.

I have an idea. We white out the speech bubbles and fill in our own dialog. I’ll go first.

“I’d like to return this portrait of Dorian Gray.”“What’s the problem?”-Eliminate middle panel-“It’s not aging well.”

Go to http://www.johnhartstudios.com/contact.php and leave a comment. Maybe if enough of us tell Mastroianni that this is no longer funny and we miss the old BC, maybe he’ll get the message.

Are we reading the same strip? The B.C. writers are extremely conservative AND extremely religious — as witness Wiley’s annual Christmas and Easter poems, as well as other frequent references in the strip to Jesus as savior. They pick on libs a LOT. Your post reminds of a Fox newscast — the potshots B.C. takes at the left are fair and balanced; they make fun of one characteristic of one conservative and they have a liberal bias.

B.C. is funnier when Mastroianni stays away from political subjects. He is too liberal for me. Take my advice, stay away from politics.
