Roz: I don't disagree with you, Mel, but fortunately, the Army has a philosophy that covers public apathy... Melissa: "It is what it is?" Roz: The Army shrug. Melissa: Kind of like the one-size-fits-all philosophy of our teenage years. Roz: "Whatever." Melissa: The original! The classic! Roz: It was what it was.

A little momento from my âArmy Daysâ:
We the unwilling, lead by the unknowing, are doing the impossible, for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long,we are now qualified to do anything with nothing!
Granted itâs an âAll Volunteer forceâ now,but nothingâs REALLY changed!

Todayâs army word speak strip reminds me of the Chris Christie press conference yesterday. Christie basically said, I am not petty and vindictive and if you say that I am, I will, of course, get you for it.

I may regret saying this, but, I was just over at âNancyâ and noted that Fritzi had on a very tight sweater, and realized we hadnât heard from calimaghazi in a long time. Even before he might have read the NYT article.

Exactly, anyone who volunteered after the war began, or reenlisted, has only themselves to blame. They may be fighting for freedom, but not for American freedom.

âWe the unwillingâŠâ This classic quote was first uttered by Konstantin Josef Jirecek, a Czech historian. Jirecek (1854-1918)

We also said, âWhat are they gonna do, send me to Vietnam?â Of course, as it turns out, even if youâre in Vietnam, they can send you to Vietnam.

If you are able, save for them a placeinside of youand save one backward glancewhen you are leavingfor the places they canno longer go.Be not ashamed to sayyou loved them, though you mayor may not have always.Take what they have taught youwith their dyingand keep it with your own.And in that timewhen men decide and feel safeto call the war insane, take one moment to embracethose gentle heroesyou left behind.
