Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for February 14, 2014
Transcript:
Mary Lou: Maybe we do need a break! Lease "The Dock" to someone! It's not as final as selling! Gus: I could lease this place and collect monthly rent, but you're missing the point! Gus: I have two commercial lots with 300 feet of waterfront! It's over 3 acres of prime real estate! Gus: I'm not selling the restaurant! Mary Lou: And here I was hoping you'd say that!

Isn’t the boat Arlo got from Gus docked (rent free) here. That should add to Arlo and Jais’ conversation…

I think he’s saying the restaurant wouldn’t sell itself..He’s selling the land and the business goes with it.

Sometimes the land is worth more than the business, like in farming…

mel palmer: Which ASA is that? I immediately thought of the Canadian name for asprin (acyl salicytic acid, they have stronger copyright laws and Asprin is still owned by Bayer), which may be appropriate to the situation.

This is screwy. Just reviewed (Thnx, GoComics) back two weeks. On the 5th, he says, “Rental values are up. I don’t have many business cycles left. I’m selling out, the restaurant, too.”
The 7th, when he tells his daughter, the conversation turns to the restaurant. And for 3 days, they are talking about selling the restaurant. Never does he correct her.
Now, he says he’s not selling the restaurant?
I’m P.O.’ed.

He’s tearing down the restaurant and selling the land, which is now far more valuable than the restaurant. Gus is going to make millions :)

If Gus is that wealthy, where is the woman in his life? If his wife has died, surely there are others looking for a sugar daddy.

Depending on location, 3 acres of beach front property, commercially zoned, could be worth several million dollars.

He doesn’t even have to tear down the restaurant….Land on an ocean? Ha! Trust me, he’s gonna do alright…..Maybe he could use some of that money to help the kids with their effort at the farm?
