Mike: Hi ya, Cal. What can I do for you? Cal: You guys want to make a donation to The Panther Defense Fund? Mike; Sorry, Cal. I"m a little low on cash... B.D.: Me, too. Mike: I don't like the looks of this.
I finally got back here and read the rest of yesterday’s comment thread. The Wild Sow is right; Haggerty333 and a few others are apparently tone-deaf to sarcasm. I guess my little “stick tongue out” emoticon didn’t register.
@gimmickgeniusYou have started posting recently and many of the other posters are not sure where you stand on issues such as LGBT rights. If I had posted that comment, most of the regular posters would have known I was being sarcastic.
@TheWildSowNo, thats Calvin. Clyde shows up later when Joanie goes to law school. Apparently, GT likes to give his black characters names that start with C.
@wecatsgocomics, @wdgnas Didn’t GT take a hiatus, and return with much better-drawn strips? To the extent that people accused him of having a ghost-artist?
Since Doonesbury’s gone into repeats for the dailies, a couple of papers have dropped the strips, and along with them, they’ve canned Mallard Fillmore. This confirms what I’ve long believed — they don’t care for the thing at all, but thought they had to provide some kind of ‘balance.’ What better to balance a well-drawn, carefully researched and surprisingly evenhanded liberal strip than a hacked out rephrasing of dictated talking points that doesn’t have any characters in it?
Calvin is secretly a collaborator for the KKK! See, he marked the front of their ‘house’ with a cross – so what if it was slanted to the side. It marks Mike and BD as sympathetic to the Panther cause, even if they didn’t donate this time! And if you rearrange the letters in *CALVIN*’s name you get CLAN with I and V leftover… turn the V on its side and stick it to the I and you get the hidden K!
Yeah, the local Atlanta fishwrapper struggles for “balance”, by adding inane Rodriguez cartoons to Pulitzer Prize-winning Mike Luckovitch, and insipid RWNJ columnists to moderate ones. And they still get accused of being lefties. Go figure.
@drickardNo, the gag there was that people wouldn’t believe he was actually polling or campaigning for a political candidate. One person kept insisting that he must be selling something.
While I (most definitely!) have no love for the Crusaders, they weren’t terrorists per-se, but conquerors and murderers.I have friends who say “The terrorists want to kill us all”, and that’s just ridiculous. That’s the point of the name: to terror-ize the living and control them. The Crusaders did want to kill all the “infidels”. And rob the bodies.
Using the race card for extortion. A brilliant move as no one will file a complaint lest they be argued to be a racist in court. Afterall, if he wasn’t a racist, he would have paid up instead of bringing in the “institutionally racist police state”.
Impossible since I am not smart enough to fear threatening people who make marks on doors like happened in Ali Baba.Nonetheless, I would have to be extremely stupid to not recognize the implied threat in this comic strip.A refusal earns a mark on the door.
And therefore, while real Christians, they weren’t “real” Christians. I would have thought you smart enough to understand that the quotation marks indicated “not real to Crusaders”. Sorry if I overestimated.

No worries. I thought they were all mad at me for making fun of Michelle Bachmann’s coocoo rhetoric. I’ll try to be less subtle next time…

The re-booted Doones no longer belongs on the editorial page. It’s interesting HISTORY but not current commentary. It is very enjoyable.

Hard to see today’s Trudeau making fun of black activists.

Refreshing to see a racist be so obvious about it. Usually they try to hide it now, even though they can never give it up.

Let’s see what I can stir up this time…

KKK isn’t Christian. It violates the teachings of Christ. It does not treat others the way its members would like to be treated.
