Astrophysics has nothing to do with the time āchangeā. The amount of daylight may change slightly either plus or minus depending on the time of year, but you arenāt saving anything by āSpringing aheadā..Hereās the most reasonable explanation that I heard of what changing the clocks is likeā¦ .Take the sheet off of your bed. Cut 12" off of the bottom. Sew that section to the top of the sheet. In the fall, reverse the process..Maybe thereās a better āPCā term for it like: āOh look! We made the sun god stay in the sky later by changing the numbers on our clocksā, time.ā¦..Anyone else think itās dumb?
Last night, hubby said to me, āItās āspring backā, right?ā I thought he was joking, until I discovered heād turned all the clocks the wrong way. I do wish we had DST all year round. I think people getting off work at 5-ish are safer walking to their cars or bus stops when it is light.
Blame Ben Franklin?.āThe idea of daylight saving time was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 during his stay in Paris. He published an essay titled āAn Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Lightā that proposed to economize the use of candles by rising earlier to make use of the morning sunlight.ā.http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/history.html
Originally devised for farmers, it is now used as one of the tools to keep the working populace tired and confused, allowing politicians to do what they want.
Happily here in Phoenix, we donāt change our clocks. It DOES confuse sometimes about when to hear/see syndicated shows. I seldom look at a clock anyway, unless Iāve promised to be somewhere at a specific time.

Paul Harvey used to have the wryest critiques of DST. Iām with Dani above, would prefer late sun all year.
