Astrophysics has nothing to do with the time ‘change’. The amount of daylight may change slightly either plus or minus depending on the time of year, but you aren’t saving anything by “Springing ahead”..Here’s the most reasonable explanation that I heard of what changing the clocks is like… .Take the sheet off of your bed. Cut 12" off of the bottom. Sew that section to the top of the sheet. In the fall, reverse the process..Maybe there’s a better ‘PC’ term for it like: “Oh look! We made the sun god stay in the sky later by changing the numbers on our clocks”, time.…..Anyone else think it’s dumb?
Last night, hubby said to me, “It’s ‘spring back’, right?” I thought he was joking, until I discovered he’d turned all the clocks the wrong way. I do wish we had DST all year round. I think people getting off work at 5-ish are safer walking to their cars or bus stops when it is light.
Blame Ben Franklin?.“The idea of daylight saving time was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 during his stay in Paris. He published an essay titled “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light” that proposed to economize the use of candles by rising earlier to make use of the morning sunlight.”.http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/history.html
Originally devised for farmers, it is now used as one of the tools to keep the working populace tired and confused, allowing politicians to do what they want.
Happily here in Phoenix, we don’t change our clocks. It DOES confuse sometimes about when to hear/see syndicated shows. I seldom look at a clock anyway, unless I’ve promised to be somewhere at a specific time.

Paul Harvey used to have the wryest critiques of DST. I’m with Dani above, would prefer late sun all year.

Have to thank our electronic devices which automatically updates the time as needed for DST.
