Looks like that time Quill had Gunther to roll down the hill has paid off!….

Not able to “reply” to your post…oh, well, you’re right about Gunther’s learning how to roll down a hill! I’d forgotten that little piece of information! ;)

At least it is daylight (I don’t know why I thought it was evening!), and there are no mudpies to be found…or mudpuddles, either… ;)

Heh. For Rosa, this is this best thing that could possibly have happened. It forces Gunther into an adventure, and she wants to encourage that for everything she can get out of it.

Luann was a far more good sport when she had to wear Gunther’s dopy costume in the pageant.

The smile that Quill catches may not be on Luann’s face.

So, Gunther is stepping up and impressing his date, while Quill is acting up and p***ing his date off. If this keeps up, Gunther and Rosa may well be the only ones are still a couple at the end of the evening!

Precisely. I wonder if Quill’s antics in re: this venture are the start of his “undoing.” Maybe Greg/Karen have someone else in mind for Lu when she heads off to Pitts CC.

Gunther and Rosa are doing well, and in fact they hold the lead! Quill is less helpful to the awkward Luann, and they are lagging. Plus, Luann is starting to lose her cool….

Is no one wondering about the bull in the field?

Rosa makes it over so well because, as a girl planning on going to foreign countries and join the Peace Corp, she’s far more athletic then Luann will ever be. Rosa’s whole point is that her middle name is ‘adventure’, so when one comes up, she handles it VERY well.

-how did Rosa make it over so well and Luann is struggling-Possibly Rosa had a helping hand. Quill, who more and more seems like a twin to TJ, is too busy taking pics with his phone to consider anything so mundane as providing a helping hand.-I’ve decided his only purpose in going to the prom with Luann is to create some pics or a film that he can use to advance his career while making her look horrible.-Maybe he takes his tips from Gweedo?

And Lu is NOT climbing the fence— she’s either jumping a hurdle (though she’s not on the track team) or is simply sitting on it, straddling.

I think the point here is to turn Prom night into a “learning experience” for Miss DeGroot. She will have to endure a series of misfortunes (which of course will not at all perturb Rosa, who is prepared to spend the coming years trudging through the Amazonian jungles), and when she gets home all mussed up, Luann will launch into her familiar self-obsessed “Me me me me me me” whine, about how horrible it was that her planned perfect night was spoiled. Then Frank and Nancy will break the news to her about Delta’s and Bernice’s terrible car crash that tied up traffic on the freeway, and how Delta’s final words were “Thank goodness we got to feed the needy family first.” Sort of put things into perspective, is what I’m saying…

It’s too bad you think all stories have to have happy endings, because not all well-told stories do. (Pretty much everybody dies at the end of “Hamlet”, but lot’s of folks think it’s a rather good play, anyway.)

All the glee in predicting the worse and being so sure Luann and Quill are doomed and worthless!!! Anyone remember that their relationship has always been partly based on banter?? They put each other down and laugh with each other. This isn’t over yet!

And don’t even think of going to an opera, if you like happy endings. Leading up to the mad scene / death scene in the final act is the whole point of the thing.

Please do not watch Lars Von Trier movies if you do not want to see female characters being put through the worst possible misery, by the way. I can’t take that sort of thing anymore, though when I was younger I somehow saw some value in a couple of his films. I’ve somehow lost my taste for emotionally exhausting nihilistic movies.

So what you’re saying is that since happiness is brain chemistry, we have no control over our feelings? I can’t cite them, however I have read about studies that have shown that the simple act of smiling can bring on feelings of happiness, or in other words, change the brain chemistry. To make myself happy, I think about the things I love. To make myself sad all I have to do is watch a movie in which someone dies, and for some reason this always makes me cry (unless it’s a bad guy of course).

Luann had some sort of romantic scenario in her head for “prom night” and this reality just doesn’t fit that plan.Rosa didn’t over-think the event and is going with the flow. A real outside the (dream) box girl.

Boy, there sure was a lot of grumpiness, judgments and serious “book larnin’s”, today! – If I didn’t know any better, I’d have thought I was watching Judge Judy! Or at least the first version of “Masterpiece Theatre”…..
