I hate diet season…its really pointless IMO. If your eating healthy and exercising at least two hours a day then you should be fine.

Exercise has hardly anything to do with weight, it’s all in the food. (it of course has everything to do with being healthy and fit, though). Diets don’t work, though, as soon as you’re done with them the weight starts creeping back and normally ends up higher than it was before the diet. To battle weight one has to change the ways of eating permanently, however this is extremely hard. Then there is the matter of gut bacteria which has quite a lot to say about how well we utilize the calories in the food – that’s one of the reasons why you can’t just say: Just eat less!

Are you kidding? My wife is the one who has me on a diet plus every vitamin known to humanity because she wants me to live to retirement age…or so she can make me eat rabbit food for as long as possible out of some sadistic sense of joy. ;-)

It’s nice to see people who don’t believe in diets. All my friends go on “whole 30”, which would be fine, but it’s just them and not the kids or husband, showing kids that dieting only for women is everything, and then when they start eating real food again, they gain it all back quickly. I know I’m not perfect, but I do like eating mostly healthy, having fun when I want, and everyone eating as together as we can manage.

Healthy food isn’t “diet food”; it should be a lifestyle change for the family to minimize junk food.

And stop trying to portray John as an abused husband. She hit him with a pillow when he said something mean to her.

Lynn’s Notes:I actually did make two meals; one for me on a diet and one for my family — who wanted more substantial grub. The hard part was cleaning up their leftovers and not swilling down the lot!

Wow to lot of your comments on Diets Do Not Work. Lot said is so very true. Food intake is definite life change. For me very little red meat to none. At home we use ground turkey and try small portions. My metabolism died. Yes I gain my hubby’s weight he lost BMI and mine will not go down. Hubby is losing weight and I’m gaining. I can now get walking exercise. I also been on-line classes so exercising has been out. Through one subject I learned body fat is Adipose a different fat tissue.

I long ago discovered the perfect diet—EAT LESS. True, it’s tough to stick to, but if you do, it ALWAYS works!

If Daddy doesn’t like what is being served, he can made something himself. That’s what is done in my daughter’s family. (Though I admit, it might be a bit tough getting this past Ellie.)

It’s all your fault, John. It’s about time to just keep your mouth shut. Besides, it won’t hurt anyone in the family to eat a healthy diet.

ps. NEVER go ON a diet. Going ON a diet means you will get OFF the diet. [Get on the bus, get off the bus] Just eat more healthy foods (more fruits and veggies) and exercise every day.

A contrarian speaks: A year and a half ago, both my blood pressure and blood sugar were in danger zones. Since I have intestinal problems, my 150+ was too much for my 5 foot plus a few inches frame. So I went on the diabetes diet, strict reduction of carbs and virtually no sugar.

I now weigh about 105. No exercise except measuring carbs.
