How can people who believe in socialism demand pay for what is good and essential work that benefits all of society?Shouldn’t they all live as simply as possible in a communal setting and grow their own food and make their own goods like their new $5M Yahara2070 scenario prophesizes?
I’ve been told that university fees would not be so high were it not for the various government loan programs. If true, then chalk up another example of government making things worse.
Well, dads (and moms) often get stuck paying it off anyway. As I recall, when I was a student at U of Mn, tuition was $98 plus incidentals for a 15 credit quarter. Of course, textbooks were additional; but, with the incidentals (I don’t remember what this was), my tuition was reasonable. Most kids with a job could actually work their way through college. Not so much anymore!

As soon as you pay off the previous food, clothing, and shelter loan for the last 18 years.

I’ve heard that drug tests can be a real deal breaker. After high school and college, it’s hard to just quit cold turkey.
