Puddles and Frank both like to watch that educational health show that used to air…. hosted by Slam No-body…. – If someone says to another: “Lets get in shape”, are they just “wasting their breath”? One can remind them that they already are . After all, round is a shape……. – Does it also mean that if you eat something that’s “fat free” that you “have no taste”?
“Fit As A Griddle”“Full Of Beans”“Getting A Kick Out Of Kicking Health”“Pyramids And Plates”“Health Unconscious”“See Food Diet”“Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous Amos”“Rabbit Food Is For The Birds”or“Where’s The Beef?”
Growing up in the 70s, we had “educational programs” like this one , “Mulligan Stew”, this one , “The Inside Story With Slim Goodbody”, and a few other shows….. – Good times, good times….
I would care about my diet and weight and visit the doctor If, said doctor could guarantee absolutely, that I would live forever. They can’t so I’ll eat as I please, drink as I please until I die… when I die, I die. Over, finis, ’do not resuscitate… and SCREW… The HEALTH CARE / HEALTH FOOD INDUSTRY.
“Or they pee uncontrollably? I’m not sure which.” ^Hey- maybe for some days, it may seem like it for ol’ Frank. Especially if the line in the Men’s room at work was a little too long in the day…
“Brought to you” by…Smearios….. “The ‘O’ shape reminds you how many taste buds will know what hit them”….from “General Spills”… – Cheaties… “the Shortcut of Champions!”… – And by… – Birds’ sigh Frozen Foods… “Well, somebody’s gotta eat it…”
Back in high school I had a cat that developed a tendency to form kidney stones. Vet put him on distilled drinking water and canned food with a maximum of 2% “ash” content. And we could find that on the label of every brand. Just try to find out the ash content of whatever you’re eating.
How old is Puddles? Well, since Luann started out as a 6-year old and now seems to be about 18, Puddles is presumably 12 years older than when the strip started. Dogs don’t go on forever (neither do humans), but this is quite feasible, and he could easily go on for several more years.
“Don’t forget such great products like:.Birdseye Birdseyes.and .Flyspeck’s Fleaspecks” ^I actually considered doing a testimonial for both of those products. I was going to “stray from the script” and warn people… It’s a travesty! Their products don’t actually contain any of what their label says they do. False advertising is just plain wrong!
The Canine Grading System: If something passes, and meets with his approval, he stamps his paw print on it. And if not, he lifts his leg on it! HA HA! (ROFL!)
So, technically , you’re still correct, since he wasn’t in the beginning (as in the first week), and this one is 9 months later… but it’s in the same year as the strip’s debut…
I’m sitting this one out, today. A little too close to home. My sister’s beagle mix was sick for the past 1-2 weeks with some kind of bacterial infection. We don’t know what caused it (and won’t know, unless we were willing to do a liver biopsy (way too dangerous and invasive)), but he is responding very well to anti-biotics and doing mucb better. But she (my sister) is doing things like making sure we don’t leave cat food out for the dog to eat (although we’re told that shouldn’t be an issue). We’ll see.
(Re: “‘theobromine.’” Raisins/grapes are just as toxic. I like to bake using lots of raisins (hey, what can I tell you…I was born in California!). Fortunately, IS Katie does not seem to like them at all. We Carefully watch what she eats at all times (sometimes she can be Absolutely Disgusting about eating some “insert proper word here”)! Regarding chocolate…when she seems interested, all I have to say is “No chocolate for the girl!,” and she goes off her merry way…never begs us to give her any after that! ;)

Yeah, I think so too. Seems pretty much the case, I think, with Puddles. They have the “advantage” of not needing “age cues” and can be depicted as being just about any age, unlike the human comic characters, where you can know a “kid” is a kid, a teen is a teen, etc….

I think that’s the first time Puddles has lived up to his name in years, in that bottom panel.

Puddles is all dog, and very discriminating. Frank likes ice cream bars. How much do they have in common? Maybe not too much….

Well, just make sure it’s not made in China and that it doesn’t have plastic by products.

Find the last strip prior to this one where Puddles lived up to his name.

Smart dog, he can read. All the dogs I know will eat anything, they especially love garbage day when the trash is knocked over by wild animals.

Well, we know what Puddles thinks about weight control. Wonder if our pets have the same feelings.
