People from NYC attend Moony? I thought it was supposed to be pretty much a “commuter college”, which is why most of the Pitt HS crowd is enrolled there. Anyway, it’s certainly a relief that Sun’s appearance in the strip was limited to a single day.

Will Tiffany be living on campus? Will Quill! still live with Mrs. Berger? When does school start at Pitt CC? Let’s move on to the really important questions, instead of waiting to meet Bernice’s roommate.

Did a Lot of yardwork today…our backyard includes a year-round wetland…all sorts of Nasty stuff grows on the wetlands side (which is separated from our regular back yard by a chain link fence). For a variety of reasons, we were unable to clear the area closest to the fence last year…so, all of these noxious vines grew to be about ten feet high (no joke!). And their thorns do a great job of skewering one, even with a long-sleeve shirt on! So, the bottom line is that I am Tired! Will sleep well tonight! Hope you do too! ’Nite all! ;)-—————————————————————————“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying; and this same flower that smiles to-day, To-morrow will be dying.” ( To The Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick, 1591-1674)

Luann is being sarcastic, going right along with Bernice. Bernice’s comment was understood by Luann, and she came back with a witty response.~How are the 18 year old girls in New York City dressing right now? New York’s fashions are typically three years ahead of California. Are they wearing strange masks, or are they just hanging them on the wall?

So, how do you think Lu’s and Bern’s relationship will evolve? Will they still be BFF’s or will they, given their new found wisdom of “adult maturity,” as well as the onset of new friends, start to drift apart?

Since Bernice is clearly looking forward to a life at Moony apart from Luann, why are we spending this time with her, getting to know her roommate’s friends? Is this just to establish that she is meeting a new group of cohorts now, so she won’t be hanging out with Luann next year?

I’m a Californian by birth, and when I lived in Oregon, I was asked if I miss the “big city”. I had to explain that never saw a stop light until I was almost eight years old, and our county seat had a population of 3,794 in 1970. As of 2012, the county seat had a population of 4,804. It took over 40 years to grow that big. Not all Californian are used to the “big city” or even live near one.

It’s inevitable that Luann will be going to Moony at some point,

    What makes you say that?

I see quite a lot of humor/story potential in re: the Scenario of Lu going to Pitts CC, where she can meet new friends (and new boys, etc. etc.). Also, she can grow independently of Bernice yet still have contact with her. I also see potential in her having to live at home while at Pitts CC, and dealing with the reality of being a “legal adult” and wanting all those freedoms, but also staying at home and still being subject to “house rules” as an adult.

I cold see Lu staying at Pitts CC, at least until she graduates (I assume with an Assoc. degree) before moving on to Moony (or wherever) for a Bachelor’s.

not sure … Greg’s already written out two of his longest running characters ( Mr. Fogarty, who actually pre-dates Luann, and Delta, who was introduced about a month into the Luann comic). Not sure he’d do the same with Bernice, who is the oldest remaining character ( introduced just a couple days after the start of the strip).

I concede that Fogarty is “written out,” permanently. I hope Delta might still make some guest appearances, as I do for Gunther and Rosa, and TJ (should he depart for greener pastures in the future).

If Luann and Bernice grow further apart, that doesn’t mean that Bernice leaves the cartoon. Just that we may see less of her, since she’ll be at Mooney (Moony?) while Luann is at Pitts State College and home.

If we are now meeting the people at Moony who will replace Luann in Bernice’s life, when do we get to mete the people who will replace Bernice in Luann’s life? Given that she is the strip’s eponymous character, those folks will be more important to us than will be Des, Viper, and (yikes!!) Sun. So when do classes start at Pitt?

Mooney is not some tiny University. We saw some of its buildings. It has enough of a reputation that Quill was allowed to go there by his parents to study Dramatics. It is close enough for Luann to commute, but Quill will probably dorm there. Maybe Tiffany will be nearby. There may be other kids we know there. Crystal is a goodcandidate. Mr. Fogarty may be there is some capacity.

Mooney will be the scene of future action, replacing Pitts...The head of the Drama department seems to think Luann is a genius. She seems to have a part-time job there. Has our famous actor, Jonah, any contact there?.URK! Ann Eifel may also be at Mooney in some capacity. .We won’t see Diz until Sat. at the earliest. We have to deal with T.J. and his insurance. Sometime we must have Brad’s wedding.

Sun’s appearance seems to have led to a rather high comment count for yesterday. The moderator must have made a few surgical strikes as I noticed that the count for yesterday dropped by a few.

It’s currently 237. What count did you have earlier? If the mods did strike, I haven’t noticed. It could also be that people voluntarily delete some as well. I know I was deleting/re-adding to get some of the HTML correct.

I mean, even that @R L post regarding “soft drinks” is still there…. :D

Will Greg Evans re-draw it, or will they leave that depiction of “Sun” on the Web site just the way it is?

They had better not waste any time resurrecting the TJ Insurance Fraud" story arc, since we have only one more week left in August, and then it will be time for Luann to start her new education venture at Pitt CC. (I assume classes start there during the first week of September?)

… and she won’t be introduced tomorrow yet! Maybe next week ….. or it’s back to TJ !

I agree we may not have “Dez” revealed tomorrow (probably another “Hi” bubble), but I don’t think we’ll move back to TJ. The “Dez” arc has only been “on” for a week. I think GE could easily devote another week to it and introduce her properly. Then we might go back to TJ.

If the Drama Dept. thought Luann was so good why wasn’t she offered a scholarship? Or perhaps they will after a year at the local ‘Comedy College’. ;) Sorry thats just what we called our local Community College.I always thought someone would buy Luanns’ song, “Hey Boy” and it would pay her way through school.

Although the Quarter system has the disadvantage of not letting out until around the start of June, it has the definite advantage of finishing the first quarter before the Christmas / New Year break, so student don’t have to spend all their holiday studying for finals and finishing assignments.
