Rick looks all tuckered out. Joanie, you may have killed him.

Jeez, I dunno. Remember “Three’s Company”? Nobody was getting any in that one, it was all chaste and Archie and stuff. Oh, occasionally someone had sex, but then it was all tee-hee and getting-away-with-something. Look at any sitcom today. Casual sex is the norm.

I don’t think that’s a happy face. Looks more worried. Like, " what just happened? What does it mean?"

It looks to me like Rick is still asleep; Joannie has the wide-eyed “innocent Doonesbury character” look.Or maybe she’s trying to remember if she took her birth control.

There has always been a north/south divide on morality. The northern reaches were settled by the English Puritans, while the south was settled by the more …liberal… French and Spanish. The Civil War wasn’t ONLY about the issues of slavery and states rights…

And, Yes, I know that there are exceptions. I was making a generalization to make a point.

It goes a little beyond happy, I think. The relishment of something truly wonderful that has happened. You don’t always have a huge grin for those; sometimes a little smile and wide eyes suffice..And frankly, Joanie hasn’t had much luck romantically since she left her husband—and given what kind of jerk he was, this may have been the best—even revelationary—experience in bed she’s ever had.

Not worried at all! Especially if you enlarge it, you can see she’s smiling. She’s happy, she’s stunned, she’s in that glorious, sleepless, totally loved-up mode. Yay, Joanie!

Joannie has the Mona Lisa look — I would call it happy.
