“Science” should be put in quotes, because everyone knows that this is basically lawyerly rhetoric-twisting and has very little to do with any assessment of the best evidence.

Preconceived conclusions just for corporations? Just about everyone has an agenda they want science to “prove”.

“It is widely acknowledged that Wiley has a liberal bent…”-—————————————————————————-

Hmm…in this world of absolute, simplistic labels, let’s see what the dictionary has to say about that…

liberal |ˈlib(ə)rəl|adjective1 open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values

    • favorable to or respectful of individual rights and freedoms

    • (in a political context) favoring maximum individual liberty in political and social reform :

    • Theology regarding many traditional beliefs as dispensable, invalidated by modern thought, or liable to change.

2 [ attrib. ] (of education) concerned mainly with broadening a person’s general knowledge and experience, rather than with technical or professional training.-———————————————————————

Think tanks crafting pseudo-science are so outdated, now that the Supreme Court has made it the law of the land that sufficiently strong belief trumps actual verifiable facts.

“In any case I did not mean my comment to be an insult.”-———————————————————————

Quite the contrary. Why would anyone be insulted to be described as stated in the dictionary? And why would anyone fear and loathe anyone described as such? Nothing to apologize for. It was a compliment.

Alternatively, you can prove just about anything with a quotation from the Bible. An atheist can even prove that there is no God. It says so, in black and white. Twice!

Bacon will kill you? I got science for that. Bacon isn’t so bad. I have science for THAT. Bacon is a valuable nutrient? I have science for that, too. Bacon is one of the building-blocks of the body. I’ve got…well, you know.
