Given that the gun lacks a silencer, wouldn’t shooting the kid kind of defeat the whole purpose, which was to keep quiet and avoid being noticed?

I hate to bash anybody who can make a living as a cartoonist these days, but the art in this is awful!

Look at that hand “holding” the gun - the thumb can be seen sticking up, when it should be on the other side of the gun, GRIPPING it. (You know, so the bad guy doesn’t DROP it.)

And the the gun itself is angled toward the reader, but the hand is shown viewed from the side. It’s as if the gun and hand were drawn separately.

And panel 3 - a pair of huge heads and a tiny hand.

Geez, it’s as if Dick Locher were the nightmare hybrid of Chester Gould and Picasso!

Maybe I should send the Tribune my art samples!

Nightshade09, Keep an “eye” on that GUN, particularly the upward ANGLE the way it’ll be pointing “tomorrow*”, when he “pulls” the trigger.(?) You’ll be wondering if he’s firing at a police helicopter flying down the street..

Then, the day after, you’ll see who really gets “hit” and “where”

Stoopid kid won’t shut up … I don’t want to attract attention in this crowd … there are police swarming all over the place … I know what I’ll do! I’ll shoot him! Then the police won’t notice me…. What could go wrong? If anything does go wrong I’ll just show the judge my hand is too deformed to even hold a gun, let alone shoot it….

I have it on good authority he’s in the darkroom with the Terror Squat, developing the film they shot last week. Soon they’ll know who the Mad Bomber is… “What the— Macy, turn that light off!” “Oops…”

Heads! Hands! Heads! This is what life looks like if you’re nearsighted and can’t afford glasses.

Virgil is standing in a crowd pointing a gun, obviously noticed since Tracy could see something from his distant vantage point, and nobody screams or yells. He’s apparently been doing this for awhile since Pops was able to hear Kid’s voice, run out of the embassy (past whoever was preventing people from exiting or entering), and out to his son in the crowd. Pops doesn’t notice there’s a huge man pointing a gun standing a few feet away. The only police covering the explosion in the embassy and attempted murder of the ambassador are Tracy and one SWAT guy. I guess we’re suppose to ignore all this and join Locher in his myopic story telling.

I agree, but did you notice that Virg’s thumb is so small that he can’t possibly get it around the grip!

Maybe he’ll kill both of them and we’ll let him off as a mercy killing.

Gee 2months since I last read DT and it is the same plot line as before being hit by a car a laid up in hospital!! Imagine my surprise! At this rate it will be September before this plot is resolved!
