I guess Elly has decided to just quit pretending that she feels any pangs of conscience when she gossips about her friend behind her back:

If Anne and Connie know each other, then it is catty to be talking about her behind her back, but hey she’s just telling facts so far. She hasn’t passed judgement yet, and that’s where it goes too far.
New here, CoolGuy? ;-) We will dissect and analyze every minute part of this comic until we all are happy that we’ve said our piece. You haven’t seen a dead horse being beaten until you’ve read the FBOFW comments. LOL!
One thing about the woman who opened the door - whoever she was, she was very beautiful. Unlike other people in this strip. Must have been a nice rest for the artist.

EXACTLY!
This is a soap opera, not a comic strip. It’s really not funny at all, but the comments sure as heck are.

I agree with lightenup’s first paragraph. Elly likes to think out loud that she’s such a good friend, then she turns around and trashes Connie (even though she really deserves it)? Over tea? I find her more nauseating by the day. She should just avoid the conversation. Connie already forgave herself for being such a… that she’ll tell you about it herself, in hopes of getting advice on how to make him love her.
I liked the picture too, dianecliff.
Thanks for the links Adamsfamily. They sure did look better back then. Anne is downright matronly now. Elly’s current ugliness suits her personality
Where is Susan001? The only thing missing here is Susan001.
These comments are far more entertaining than the strip itself. This strip is like an ink blot, open to all interpretations. For some interesting and provocative comments, jump over the the political cartoons.
My comment for the day: the difference between gossip and conversation is: gossip is something you wouldn’t say if the person of subject is present. We all speak of our friends when they are not present. That’s conversation. Gossip has a “Mean” component to it.
I thought the offer of tea was an attempt to change the subject. I’ve never thought Elly was mean. She’s a normal, over-worked mother who is sometimes frustrated, sometimes impatient. I can identify.
littledutchboy: I really like your definition of the difference between gossip and conversation. I think it’s very true.
marvee: I don’t think the offer of tea is to change the subject … I think it’s so they can get a little more comfortable and won’t get dehydrated while they gossip about Connie!
BTW: Can someone please tell me how to make words bold? Thanks!
Thank you ever so much for your help! I really appreciate it!!!!! I knew there was a “trick” to it — I just didn’t know what it was.
BTW: Just because we’ve disagreed on certain subjects in the past doesn’t mean I have anything against you at all – and I hope you feel the same way about me. Actually, I’ve probably found myself agreeing with you more than the other way around. It’s a free country and we’re all entitled to our own opinions; I don’t hold grudges against anyone who disagrees with anything I have to say. And while I may not always agree with something that someone else says, I always respect their right to say it. I just wish more people felt the same way about it. If they did, we’d all get along with each other much better.

Missrobi - Connie went to the wrong address.
It looks like Lynn has reverted and is drawing these women looking a bit older than they were at the time.

I think Anne should start blabbing. Elly needs something other than her brother to talk about with Connie!

Neat to see the original version Adams.. – in some ways it’s funnier – and perhaps more realistic.

GretchensMom, you put 2 *’s at each end of the word to make them bold.
One * at each end italicizes the word.
Didn’t think I’d be the one to tell you, did ya? : )
