You make your own dream. SUNDAY SERVICE That's the Beatles' story, isn't it? That's Yoko's story. That's what I'm saying now. Produce your own dream. It's quite possible to do anything... ...but not to put it on the leaders and the parking meters. Don't expect Jimmy Carter or Ronald Reagan or John Lennon or Yoko Ono or Bob Dylan or Jesus Christ to come and do it for you. You have to do it yourself. PAUL JOHN RINGO GEORGE That's what the great masters and mistresses have been saying ever since time began. They can point the way... NEW YORK CITY IN JOHN WE TRUST ...leave signposts and little instructions in various books that are now called holy and worshipped for the cover of the book and not for what it says... the Holy Beatles ...but the instructions are all there for all to see, have always been and always will be. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE GIVE PEACE A CHANCE There's nothing new under the sun. All the roads lead to Rome. And people cannot provide it for you. I can't wake you up. You can wake you up. I can't cure you. You can cure you. - John Lennon

And I thought the “Futurama” episode of a “Star Trek” original series-based religion was ludicrous.

Cool quote, though…

Your ability to put those words here are because of the work of those same “losers”.Oh yeah. " here" wouldn’t exist either.

So wrong on so many levels. Not a Beatles fan and things like this don’t help. Each to their own.

as ridiculous as religions tend to be this at least makes more sense that kowtowing to an invisible sky fairy (and murdering and stealing and brainwashing children). I’ll take the words of those ‘over rated drug addicts’ any day over the lies and filth spewed by the more popular religions of our day.

I seem to recall The Beatles being horrified at the prospect of their being more popular than Jesus in some places.

I’m amazed how many commenters seem to have missed the entire point of the quote.

I love the Beatles; I love their music. All they did, however, philosophically, was popularize the true wisdom known for thousands of years in all religions and philosophies. It’s not really about religion; it’s about taking responsibility for your own life (and the lives of other when appropriate) in a loving manner. That’s it. Don’t need to make a bigger to-do than that.

After reading the comments, to me, it seems clear that people will read something with their filter on and only see it from how they want to see it. In my opinion what this strip is saying is don’t expect anyone to do something for you, you have to do it for yourself. Only you can guide your future , no one else.

Am I missing something or are most of the commentators missing the irony of the strip? John’s words are saying that each of us are responsible for making our own lives and our own dreams. The strip’s images show people worshiping the Beatles (the last thing John would have wanted) and seemingly putting their hopes for something better on the late fab four. It would seem that Gavin is rejecting worship of the Beatles. Its one thing to enjoy their music or be inspired by their story, just don’t take it too far.
