“That’s right, Coach. Valley Tech said Dad was a drifter and wouldn’t let me in the school until we had a permanent address in the district. Milford was the only school in the Valley that didn’t seem to care where I lived!”
OK, fans, will the ankle injury rear its ugly head in the story line???? Now with a solid team, and since the 1960s, we know Gil is an outstanding coach, how will the Mudlarks self destruct? I always say that a mediocre team with outstanding coaching can be a champion. So what about this Milford team that is looking pretty solid? If they fail, it’s another case of the writers not really knowing much about sports and the role of good coaching.
I’m liking this story a lot. Standish, a talented athlete who obviously comes with some baggage, reminds me of star basketball center Joel Frost, another talented transfer that Gil had to deal with in the 1960s when the great Jack Berrill was writing the strip.
In all reality , Trues eyelids are closed throughout the entire strip today does it mean he s sleeping and his enrollment at at Milford is a dream or does it mean that anytime True enters a school he falls asleep ?
This is a nice look into Gil’s office with multiple mirrors hanging on the wall so that Gil can look at himself at all times and a large picture window overlooking the famous Milford showers, which Mr. Standish is trying his hardest not to notice.
Trying to make sense out of the sequence of events. True spacing on locker combo…Dad and True in Gil’s office…first period hasn’t yet begun. Some sort of hole in the space-time continuum? I didn’t even WANT a science class.
Get Tru his required minimum practices in. The ’Larks will have us mesmirized with their push for a Valley Conference title. However, lack of depth on the line will be their achilles heel.

Will his Dad accompany him to his classes? At least Tru is getting better at this “shaking hands” maneuver than he was the last time we saw him.

Spoiler Alert: Somehow, Milford still won’t make the playdowns.

what does ‘call and audible’ mean? Very romantic P2 – and for a guy who supposedly works out, Gil’s arm looks rather emaciated.

I’m starting to feel sorry for True’s dad. I think the poor guy only has the one tie, because he seems to wear it in every appearance.
