Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I had forgotten that Warbucks and the Silos met long ago when Annie stayed with them before. Even so, he couldnât consent to staying in the house because he and his friends need to plan the âsurpriseâ without telling the Silos about it. Telling the Silos at this point would really confuse things.
The Silos might even think that Warbucks was âbrainwashedâ to go after Axel. It was never fully explained what was in the Belinda message to convince everyone it was 1944.
I donât think I would like Punjab or The Asp staying in my house, even if I knew who they were. For sure with Punjab, Iâd have to put a lock on the fridge. With Asp, Iâd have to leave all the lights on and a dozen deadbolt locks added to my bedroom door.
The Silos were the first people to take Annie in after she escaped from the orphanage. When Warbucks found her, he was so grateful to them that he established a dairy farm partnership with them. This was better than just giving them money. As a result, their standard of living improved significantly. Warbucks and the Silos became good friends and saw each other for several years afterward. All this happened, by the way, before Asp and Punjab were introduced to the storyline.
I allow as how either Tracy or Annie (more likely the latter) directed Warbucks to the Silo farm. But it is rather risky to be relying on them when they may be (are?) under the influence of the Belinda mind control. It is wise of Warbucks to prefer the barn to sharing the house, especially since there are other people, those âfriends,â with him whom he has presumably not enumerated in detail to Ma and Pa SiloâŚ.
I really wish time travel was involved, because then weâd know this is the real Ma and Pa SIlo, and that Daddy did know them from long ago.But according to Axel, everyone there is a former construction worker, brought to the island to restore the buildings, and then brainwashed into believing itâs 1944.I know â Ma and Pa sold the farm and opened a construction company. Or Axel was lying to his superiors.I am totally confusedâŚ
Itââs good to see communication with the Silos rather than just wisking Annie (and Tracy) away without any knowledge of why she will soon suddenly disappear from the island. Will Simmons Corners and its residents remain on the island after the story ends? The workers should return home but what about the Silos? Is there another Simmons Corners where they will be returned to? Annie lived with them a few years earlier in comic time (not 1944) so it would not be on this island since it was deserted in 1944. Great story that I am NOT ready to see end unlike a few other readers but a lot of loose ends that need to be cleaned up.
Gweedo, have a little empathy for the animals in the barn. How do you think THEY feel looking out of their stalls and seeing Punjab with that blade? The poor horses will think the glue factory has arrived at their doorstep. For all the animals know, ISIS arrived.
Loose ends?? This epic will have more loose ends than a frayed afghan. Itâs been running so long itâll end up like Lost and hope followers will forget. And, it ainât gonna end this week, probably not next.
Absolutely, RWM! I canât wait to find out whatâs wrong with the story. Iâm kinda liking it; it grows on you. But the âLOLsterâ obviously has the inside on what is correct and what is not. Mattie used to do that, if I remember correctly. And those of us who do not fall into agreement with him are âunimportantâ.
HmmmâŚ.this makes me wonder if the Siloâs are so brainwashed that they do not realize that they have been transported somehow to this faux Simmons Corners? It is probably best that everyone spends the night in the barn away from the powerful effects of the Belinda broadcast. It obviously did not take long for Tracy to fall under the effects. It makes me wonder if Axel is also drugging the water supply with hypnotic drugs.
On Sept. 7 Axel stated to his superior that he had ârecruitedâ (in quotes meaning he brainwashed) the construction workers to act as townspeople. Annie questioned the fact that the Siloâs would work for Axel. This indicates that Axel is not being comepetely honest (big surprise) even with his superiors. Obviously the Siloâs, Kenyonâs assistants, Tracy, Annie, Lum and Abner, and possibly others were not the original construction workers. And, is Annie the only child in town? Is there a school?
The fact that Axel even has superiors indicates to me that much more is left to be discovered in this story. I am doubting that it will end within a week.
I am also wondering about Axelâs use of a short wave radio to communicate with his superiors. Unless he has some method of encrypting his communications, the airwaves are open to anyone who wants to listen.
-Well for me they would be welcomed with open arms. They are your friends not enemies and to treat them as such would be very bad mannersSure, I agree with you. If you will look more carefully at my post, you are replying to a quote from another poster -morrow. Read the entire comment, and see that I was replying to morrow, and my ideas match up with your thoughts â that is, that Punjab and the Asp are depicted as being loyal friends of Annie, Warbucks and other honest folks.
Considering their age and such they could not be the real Silos.
If you consider that Annie is only about 4 years older than she was when she was with the Silos before, it could be that they are also only 4 years older, even though the current story has a much different setting, time-wise. There was evidently some kind of plan to get Annie and the Silos together before it happened. There is still much to be explained.

I think itâs really âLandâs sakes!â but you really donât hear it very often any more, even in the rural South.

Typos are kind of like the Asp â they appear suddenly, even when you think you have guarded against them!
