baslimthebegger; me too somewhere in the early 70’s. I remember noticing we were only in about 10” of water and tempted to walk out. Almost lost my marbles in that small small world!
One New Years Eve I sat in my hotel overlooking Times Square while an electronics store played “The Little Drummer Boy” for three days. I understand how Panama City surrendered to US rock& roll.
I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerves,
everybody’s nerves
everybody’s nerves
I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerves and this is how it goes….
All of you commenters are sick, sick, sick. And I’m loving it. Some of the best really bad puns and such I’ve seen in a while. I think you may actually be giving Wiley a run for his money. ;-}
“It’s a song that doesn’t end,
It goes on and on my friend,
Some people started singing it
not knowing what it was
And now we wont stop singing it
and sing it just because,
It’s a song that doesn’t end….”
Nothing can ruin your favorite song to the point that you never want to hear it again (ever) like a three drunk trio trying to sing it for you on a Karaoke stage…
Well, Radish, if I broke your heart last night, it’s because I love you most of all. (I still have that by the Mills Bros., and I still have cleo’s “Lollipop” 45 RPM by the Chordettes.)
You never close your eyes anymoreWhen I kiss your lipsThere’s no tenderness like beforeIn your fingertipsYou’re trying hard not to show itBut baby, baby I know it
You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’Whoa, that lovin’ feelin’You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’Now it’s gone, gone, gone whoa
Ugh, my worst karaoke memory was lodging in the room over the pub in Britain when the local Karaoke Club took the stage. I thought I was going to die. There wasn’t a one of them that could carry a tune in a basket and for some reason they were amped louder than the professional musicians chose to play. The worst one of the lot was deemed “so talented” by his peers. I never did figure out what the “talent” was.

Well, I think he’s singing Devo’s “Whip It”.
“When a good time turns around, You must whip it. You will never live it down Unless you whip it. No one gets away Unless they whip it.”
Can’t you hear it? ;-p

Another reason to stay away from Kareoke bars… LOL! Possible torture while listening to bad singers…

Personally, I think he’s singing “I get no kick from champagne, mere alcohol doesn’t thrill me at all. But I get a kick out of you!”

^Personally, I’d really start worrying if he was singing, “I dont’ know much, but I know I love you…”

For my first song I begin with “Lollipop, Lollipop”.
My second song will be “Sugar, Sugar”.
To end the evening I shall close with the always popular “Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I’ve got Love In My Tummy.

Vixenort: You took the words right out of my mouth!
There’s also this one:
“I am slowly going crazy, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, SWITCH! Crazy going slowly am I, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, SWITCH! I am slowly… ”

Wasn’t Karaoke, but spent a long weekend in the 70’s snowed in at a 2room hunting cabin with abt 6 other people.
We had a wood stove, pump water in the sink, an outhouse, a deck of cards, an antique casette player without auto reverse and 1 Grateful Dead casette.
Before that weekend, they were my favorite.

That song “I Will Survive” sung by Gloria Gaynor and Diana Ross, not Donna Summer.

I am sure there is a special place reserved in hell for karaoke singers - maybe they are forced to listen to endless Tom Jones tracks.

Thanks, Wildmustang1262 -
Now I know I should have blamed, I mean credited, Gloria Gaynor for that disco nightmare.
