Burl didn’t borrow the movie from the video store and he certainly didn’t rent it. Burl is returning it to the man who lent it to him. That is exactly what one should do.
What a jerk! They finally got around to viewing the movie after it was due back and now Bill is stuck with the late fee. Well, Bill, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
This is another rerun from a year or so ago. It’s still as relevant today as it was back then: the Pennys are just as thoughtless and self-centered today as they were back then. What scares me is that I know people like that.
I do so hope the Penny’s are going to wonder why Bill and Colleen never ask them over, never accept invitations from them and certainly never lend them anything ever again. Do you suppose the Penny’s wonder why they only have 3 friends? Ah, Jer isn’t really a friend per se, he only hangs around when Verla begs him to.
I’m amazed our thoughtless duo got the movie back to their now-ex-friends at all.
Bill and Colleen have a very no-nonsense sign, prohibiting solicitors after early afternoon..so they’re not easy-going, and they probably eat dinner early and go to bed early…Burl and Joy are at the door well after dark, cos the lights are all on…maybe 10 or 11pm, assuring them that it’s OK, cos they can still make it to the video store before midnight.
Tomorrow they’ll brag of their kindness, for getting there while there’s still time for their dear friends to save another day’s fine.
People, people…. come on now! You are all rather hyper critical of Burl and Joy!!!!!! Burl and Joy ARE returning the video! That is pretty darn kind of them, in my opinion! It is not Burl’s nor Joy’s fault that Bill rented the video without taking their viewing schedule into account. He should have rented it at least two days later than he did. Because Bill did not take this common sense courtesy, he should willingly and without any sort of rancor, pay the fine. Bill and his wife’s look of surprise and frustration bespeak of their own inconsiderate mindset!++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++My pipe and coffee this morning have put me in a bit of a silly mood. Yes, they watched last night (and must have realized it was due back) and still did not think to return it in the next morning; as usual they think of no one’s convenience but their own. I like that the film was “The Jerk” (very apropos).
