Transcript:
Quill: "For halloween, my drama class is doing "Sleepy Hallow." Mrs. Manezon is hoping you'll help with the stage design" Luann: "I'd love to! It'll be here? At Moony?" Quill: "No, our stage is booked. We rented that empty old warehouse on elm street" Luann: "Ooo! Spooky cool!" Quill: "Yeah. But we really need to promote the show to cover costs" Luan: "Talk to Bernie. She has huge parties and knows everyone" Bernice: "Which Bernice is this?"

Aah, Bern! It was already one thing when you âletâ that party happen, or at least when you didnât clean house later⊠but you really did it, once you decided to tell Luann you were now âpopularâ⊠â ..You shoulda corraled that wild horse that rests between your gumsâŠ.and you shouldnât have lit that match when you called Luann to âbragâ⊠â Not that Lu and âQuill!â really believe it, anyway⊠but it is out thereâŠ. â Yup.. The âSword of DamoclesââŠ

Maybe they can con Tiff into promoting the show? After all, she is supposed to be a drama major and should know about the play, anyway?! ;)

Bernice is consciously trying to not be like Miss Phelps , she just doesnât know how to âchoose her battlesâ.

I think I am going to like this upcoming arc about Halloween and MUâs play in that old warehouse! Perhaps Tiffâs red horns will come out again? ;)

IS Katie has just wandered upstairsâŠguess she doesnât want to do her usual head-bonking! She got her little red butt in trouble about one-half hour ago; she was barking in the back yardâŠreally loud ! Finally got her in, and she promptly began to mope! And, on that note, âNite all! ;)-ââââââââââââââââââââââââMy candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh my friends⊠It gives a lovely light!â(Edna St. Vincent Millay, 1892-1950)

Iâm hoping that Ms Manezon possibly gets Luann a scholarship to Moony University as a way of showing her appreciation of Luannâs fine work.

With LESS Than a Week BEFORE Halloween, Youâre a Little LATE to Prepare the Proper Exploitation of Your So-Called âPlayâ, Pretty-Boy.
And You Just WATCH Where YOU Put Those HANDS, Mr. âStud-Muppetâ!
SactoSylvia over 10 years ago
You know something? Sometimes youâre a real drag! In any event, Mrs. Manezon manages the program, and if she does that right she knows how to delegate. And sheâs also a teacher, so helping students learn and grow is as important to her job as staging successful productions.

Quill has no clue who the ânew and improvedâ Bernice really is: putty in the hands of Tiffany, Dez, and Dezâs many friends from the fringe. I donât think old Bernice knows, eitherâŠ.

Isnât Mooney supposed to be a college with a great drama department? Then wonât it teach classes in set design? Wonât it have a bunch of students who are taking that course, and many others who have taken it already, who are qualified to design and build the sets, and who would actually benefit in terms of their academic experience from doing so? Then certainly all of them should be given priority over Luann, an amateur with no training in set design and no connection with the university. All drama students who are paying tuition to Mooney would have every right to demand that they be given this job (just for the experience, even if it pays no salary) rather than Luann. To say that people walking in from off the street can do a better job than the Drama Departmentâs own students is to admit that their Drama Department is worthless.

Ask Tiff! Sheâs a budding event planner. If her career as an actor doesnât pay, her plan B is a cosmetologist. If her career as a cosmetologist goes limp, sheâs a terric event planner. Plus, she obviously loves the work.

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET!!!
you all missed the reference to a halloween play on ELM street!!!
Willow Mt Lyon over 10 years ago
All Tiffany has to do is hook up with Hair, and the promotion will be a hit. Quill has a closer relationship with Miss Botox so probably knows a little more about the play than Tiffany at this point.
Willow Mt Lyon over 10 years ago
I can see Hair and Tiffany become a couple.
krys723 over 10 years ago
In order to get to Bernice youâll have to talk to Tiffany (which is a bad choice within itself)

Bernice bragging about her awesome party and how she knows everyone would seem very un-Bern-like. However, I can certainly imagine her venting to Luann, âMy invisible roommateâs mob of friends invaded my dorm room and had a huge party there so I couldnât study all night!â and Luann hearing only the parts she wants to hear: My⊠friends⊠dorm⊠huge party⊠all night!
TheLiam over 10 years ago
I find it hard to believe Manezon not only wants someone who is not a member of the drama department but also is not even a student at the University to help with this. It defeats the purpose of taking it for your degree. That being said this will probably end with her getting handed a scholarship or something to that effect to be able to go to Mooney, which is a cop out if you ask me.

Speaking of people we havenât seen in awhile â whatâs going on with Gunther & Rosa?

LOL!!-I guess youâve never heard of the concept âsuspension of disbeliefâ. This is a concept used frequently by writers of the fantastic (fantasy fiction), but also most fiction writers.-Wikipedia has a decent summary of it. It dates back to poet-philosopher Samuel Coleridge, but continues to be used by many. Including, according to Wikipedia, Shakespeare.-It has little to do with mistakes. Basically, the idea is that if a writer has included human interest in a story (even if itâs about little green men on Mars), and a -*semblance*_ of truth, that readers are willing to suspend their judgement of a narrative because they are interested enough, or invested enough, in the character and story to continue reading.-When a story âjumps the sharkâ, so to speak, that writer has gone too far in asking his or her readers to suspend disbelief.-This is true for comics as well as fiction. It doesnât have much to do with logic, or, for that matter, with hating or loving a comic or a story.

Will the Aussie get saucy with Lu with this Halloween play? Stay toned. Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Meh~tdology, fka Pepelaputr over 10 years ago
Luann and Quill should immediately go hang out at Bernice âs dorm to help her stay strong in her schoolwork , seeing as they donât seem to really believe she is âpopularâ.(And I bet Quill would put an end to this Dez nonsense, besides!)

Who says Bern told Luann? All L said was "Talk to..â notâŠI talked to her. But then again. We all know Tiff would not let someone else take credit for her party!Plot thickens indeed!
Gerry Lee over 10 years ago
It would be fun to see Tiffany and Luann fighting over Bernice eventually. Even though Tiff is using Bernie a bit, she also seems interested in molding Bern into her own glorious image as a party girl. So I think Tiff has an emotional stake in Bern as well as a practical use for her. Iâm rooting for Tiffany and Bernice, âbest friends foreverâ 2016!

Iâm remembering Ichabod Crane as a supposedly tall, skinny guy. Doesnât sound much like Leslie KnoxâŠ

âHair" is Mooneyâs version of Knute. He would be attracted to a Crystal-type student (like Viper?) rather than to Tiffany. Inner beauty, donât you know.

Exactly.

The strip does have a really tall, lanky character. Iâm sure someone at Mooney is qualified for the role, however.
seismic-2 Premium Member over 10 years ago
Of course, since the Mooney U. drama department is so lousy that no one who has taken the course in set design is actually qualified to design sets, then maybe no tall students who are studying acting are actually qualified to act, either.

(@TaxMan)"What does ANY of this mean? " ^Well, looking it up, âANY of thisâ means, essentially, any parts of the whole under consideration, or the sum total together⊠it could also mean either/orâŠ. it all depends, really⊠on what you may be specifically looking for⊠pleased to be able to respond! If Luann is eventually going to get into Moony U. with Mrs. Manezonâs help, thatâs one thing, but I hope that her junior college experience is depicted in some more detail first. Here are some things that ought to be shown in the strip:
1. Luann should engage in some academic experience â such as having to take notes through a lecture more intense than she ever had in high school, or writing an essay longer than she ever had to write in high school. Attending a class where the instructor calls the roll and tells the students to buy the textbook is not enough.
2. Luann should get to know at least one of her fellow students. Maybe they become friends, maybe they donât, but at least Luann needs to meet somebody, and the person should be identified by name and shown in the strip (not just a silhouette).
3. The name of at least one of the classes Luann is taking should be identified.
4. The name of the college that Luann is attending should also be identified. (We may call it âPitts Community Collegeâ here for convenience, but itâs never been identified by a proper name in the strip itself.)

Iâm still curious about how to pronounce Mrs. Manezonâs name. Is it âMain Zoneâ or âMan Zoneâ⊠Just wonderingâŠ

My hub marvels at the variety and stances of all of the Luann-ites here. If I say anymore, itâll cause an avalanche LOL! =-O

I think itâs supposed to rhyme with âAmazonâ, except with an ânâ in place of the âmâ.
