Aah, Bern! It was already one thing when you “let” that party happen, or at least when you didn’t clean house later… but you really did it, once you decided to tell Luann you were now “popular”… – ..You shoulda corraled that wild horse that rests between your gums….and you shouldn’t have lit that match when you called Luann to “brag”… – Not that Lu and “Quill!” really believe it, anyway… but it is out there…. – Yup.. The “Sword of Damocles”…

Maybe they can con Tiff into promoting the show? After all, she is supposed to be a drama major and should know about the play, anyway?! ;)

IS Katie has just wandered upstairs…guess she doesn’t want to do her usual head-bonking! She got her little red butt in trouble about one-half hour ago; she was barking in the back yard…really loud ! Finally got her in, and she promptly began to mope! And, on that note, ’Nite all! ;)-———————————————————————“My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh my friends… It gives a lovely light!”(Edna St. Vincent Millay, 1892-1950)

I’m hoping that Ms Manezon possibly gets Luann a scholarship to Moony University as a way of showing her appreciation of Luann’s fine work.

You know something? Sometimes you’re a real drag! In any event, Mrs. Manezon manages the program, and if she does that right she knows how to delegate. And she’s also a teacher, so helping students learn and grow is as important to her job as staging successful productions.

Quill has no clue who the “new and improved” Bernice really is: putty in the hands of Tiffany, Dez, and Dez’s many friends from the fringe. I don’t think old Bernice knows, either….

Isn’t Mooney supposed to be a college with a great drama department? Then won’t it teach classes in set design? Won’t it have a bunch of students who are taking that course, and many others who have taken it already, who are qualified to design and build the sets, and who would actually benefit in terms of their academic experience from doing so? Then certainly all of them should be given priority over Luann, an amateur with no training in set design and no connection with the university. All drama students who are paying tuition to Mooney would have every right to demand that they be given this job (just for the experience, even if it pays no salary) rather than Luann. To say that people walking in from off the street can do a better job than the Drama Department’s own students is to admit that their Drama Department is worthless.

Ask Tiff! She’s a budding event planner. If her career as an actor doesn’t pay, her plan B is a cosmetologist. If her career as a cosmetologist goes limp, she’s a terric event planner. Plus, she obviously loves the work.

All Tiffany has to do is hook up with Hair, and the promotion will be a hit. Quill has a closer relationship with Miss Botox so probably knows a little more about the play than Tiffany at this point.

Bernice bragging about her awesome party and how she knows everyone would seem very un-Bern-like. However, I can certainly imagine her venting to Luann, “My invisible roommate’s mob of friends invaded my dorm room and had a huge party there so I couldn’t study all night!” and Luann hearing only the parts she wants to hear: My… friends… dorm… huge party… all night!

I find it hard to believe Manezon not only wants someone who is not a member of the drama department but also is not even a student at the University to help with this. It defeats the purpose of taking it for your degree. That being said this will probably end with her getting handed a scholarship or something to that effect to be able to go to Mooney, which is a cop out if you ask me.

LOL!!-I guess you’ve never heard of the concept ‘suspension of disbelief’. This is a concept used frequently by writers of the fantastic (fantasy fiction), but also most fiction writers.-Wikipedia has a decent summary of it. It dates back to poet-philosopher Samuel Coleridge, but continues to be used by many. Including, according to Wikipedia, Shakespeare.-It has little to do with mistakes. Basically, the idea is that if a writer has included human interest in a story (even if it’s about little green men on Mars), and a -*semblance*_ of truth, that readers are willing to suspend their judgement of a narrative because they are interested enough, or invested enough, in the character and story to continue reading.-When a story ‘jumps the shark’, so to speak, that writer has gone too far in asking his or her readers to suspend disbelief.-This is true for comics as well as fiction. It doesn’t have much to do with logic, or, for that matter, with hating or loving a comic or a story.

Luann and Quill should immediately go hang out at Bernice ‘s dorm to help her stay strong in her schoolwork , seeing as they don’t seem to really believe she is “popular”.(And I bet Quill would put an end to this Dez nonsense, besides!)

It would be fun to see Tiffany and Luann fighting over Bernice eventually. Even though Tiff is using Bernie a bit, she also seems interested in molding Bern into her own glorious image as a party girl. So I think Tiff has an emotional stake in Bern as well as a practical use for her. I’m rooting for Tiffany and Bernice, ‘best friends forever’ 2016!

‘Hair" is Mooney’s version of Knute. He would be attracted to a Crystal-type student (like Viper?) rather than to Tiffany. Inner beauty, don’t you know.

The strip does have a really tall, lanky character. I’m sure someone at Mooney is qualified for the role, however.

Of course, since the Mooney U. drama department is so lousy that no one who has taken the course in set design is actually qualified to design sets, then maybe no tall students who are studying acting are actually qualified to act, either.

If Luann is eventually going to get into Moony U. with Mrs. Manezon’s help, that’s one thing, but I hope that her junior college experience is depicted in some more detail first. Here are some things that ought to be shown in the strip:

    1. Luann should engage in some academic experience — such as having to take notes through a lecture more intense than she ever had in high school, or writing an essay longer than she ever had to write in high school. Attending a class where the instructor calls the roll and tells the students to buy the textbook is not enough.

    2. Luann should get to know at least one of her fellow students. Maybe they become friends, maybe they don’t, but at least Luann needs to meet somebody, and the person should be identified by name and shown in the strip (not just a silhouette).

    3. The name of at least one of the classes Luann is taking should be identified.

    4. The name of the college that Luann is attending should also be identified. (We may call it “Pitts Community College” here for convenience, but it’s never been identified by a proper name in the strip itself.)
