Otis bears an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Svenson, the janitor (coincidence, I think not!) in the Archie comics! ANOTHER crossover? When will this ever end?! (Submitted with tongue firmly in cheek).

Thank You, Gweedo! And, as avenger09 used to say, “S.I.T.O.A.N.M.I.”

Otis is a janitor wearing overalls as janitors oftern do and wearing a typical janitor’s hat. I don’t think there’s a reference.

Now, Mr. Mel O. Dee has put himself in danger by constantly calling Gruesome “Gruesome.” I think that Mr. Dee’s share of the take from the bank robbery is also in jeopardy now.

And stage lights, and scaffolds, and trap doors, and….. (I believe when someone says to Gruesome, “Break a leg” he may go a little too far…)

Conspiratorial glances and whispers are, unluckily, likely to attract the attention of…Christopher Cushing. One or more of these two may be Not Long for This World (NL-TW)….

I’m thinking Mel took Gruesome’s money and invested it in the play, and that’s what’s paying the bills.

    Taking NOTICE of OTIS . . .

. . . There in panel 2, in complimentary style, indeed, it’s almost ‘synonymous’ - as Otis leans on that Broom, ever so patiently, WAITING, as likely do some readers, and wondering, WHEN the “Broom” will Drop ?

Some may even discern Otis as a Visual ‘Time Piece’ given the leisurely pacing we’ve been experiencing to date ?As you think on it, It’s been over 4 weeks now - since Tracy did his ‘wrap up’ with Chief Patton on the Annie - case, and many have been waiting since, for a fresh Crime to ‘come along’, to ‘kick start’ greater interest and ACTION,

Yes ! Most have appreciated those updates. By count it seems they’ve been some EIGHT, like little piles of oddities that Otis has swept up and separated out for special ‘inspection’, before moving one FORWARD – (likely Gruesome) – to finally stimulate ACTION !The latter (Boris K), hasn’t made a false move yet, although Otis seems to be shaping up for a Handout or perhaps a final Resting Place in a Coffin ?

.On the other hand no one has complained, but this is the closest (i.e. Otis) - anyone, has come to a Crime. Will Tracy eventually arrest him for Blackmail ?

Chet Gould’s formula always had a CRIME, in the first 3 weeks. Sometimes on the first DAY with a Bank Robbery (like Lispy - Dec 1975) Casualty figures then, 2 dead, a third wounded and Hospitalized ! An approach that made you ‘sit up’ smartly, with wonder - at what was going to happen NEXT ?

Tomorrow is Vereran’s Day! We know who we are….. and the PC bunch can’t take that away from this country’s heritage, as much as they’d like to! I don’t know how many WWII vets are reading this, but like Tom Brokaw said, they are the Greatest Generation! Hats off to you guys (and gals)!

Everybody’s talking about Otis, but what I keep seeing is how very Gouldian Mr. Dee looks. Especially in panel three.
