Blocking traffic does not add supporters to your cause, it only subtracts from them.

Just remember innoncent until proven guilty is only required in court. The media has always done it the other way around.

@brassorchid, maybe if they came to trial instead of not being indicted, you’d have a point. In the case of Ferguson, the grand jury was given instructions invalidated by the US Supreme Court 30 years ago.

Two relevant articles…http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2014/09/08/how-many-police-shootings-a-year-no-one-knows/*http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/179-nypd-involved-deaths-3-indicted-exclusive-article-1.2037357*I support and appreciate the police. Despite the fact that all segments of our society lie to police to get out of tickets and arrests, despite many departments are under compensated and poorly equipped, despite being weighed down by rules set by politicians who consider them a burden and potential liability, the vast majority of these men and women are good people who present a thin blue line between anarchy and mere daily life. There are thugs and bullies in uniform, but they are a minority. However, because a mistake by one results in punishment of all in the public eye, it becomes even more important that full transparency be offered so that bad cops are fired and good cops praised and appreciated. When we fear the police, as with those folks who are afraid their guns are going to be taken, our society spirals a bit further down.Respectfully,C.

Respectful Troll: with respect, I disagree. The attitude expressed in “a thin blue line between anarchy and mere daily life.” Is, IMO, a large part of the problem. In some ways, I think people were just as well off when there was a constabulary, and no organized police department. With miltarization, prosecutors in bed with the police, and both looking at the general population as a despised enemy, I’d be willing to lay off 90% of the cops (and end arrests for victimless crimes like drug use and prostitution).

Respectful Troll: Yes, you make excellent points. Sadly, I think you’re also right regarding the chances of certain improvements.
